Pelosi visit to Taiwan

You can lose a lot using virtual meetings over face to face. There's no reason to avoid travelling there as long as the reasons for the trip are valid
What about the green agenda and carbon footprint? Pelosi could reduce carbon emissions and prevent us from getting into a conflict with a nuclear power.

Or, now let me throw this wild idea out there... what if Pelosi and the United States actually tried to practice some diplomacy for a change? I know... I know... wild idea. Hasn't been tried since WWII by this country, but it might be worth a shot.

She’s actually doing that right now Moe in telling the Chicoms to piss off.

What you really wanted to ask is why won’t our government just appease authoritarian regimes so we don’t make them mad at us.

If they get mad at us, the likelihood of a nuclear exchange increases. You want to risk nuclear annihilation over Nancy Pelosi and some face saving measure? You're a madman.

OK, if you want to pizz about the semantics of whether it was a deadlock or whatever, I'll concede whatever minor point you want to make with regards to that. The major point is that the end result is that the Taliban was running things in 2001 before we came in and they are running things now that we are gone.

Yes, all of this is correct and that is because of politics within the military and it's civilian leadership. The Taliban didn't fight us to a stalemate or deadlock.

You're pulling a lot of rabbits out of that hat. Travel can still be justified, and it's not really risking conflict.
The US has usually practiced diplomacy since WWII. There have been times we didn't and times we did it poorly but generally we do.

The Chicoms have created their own Gulf of Sidra situation in an attempt to embarrass the US and show the world that they are now the dominant power. If we back down it will have consequences that will be felt for the next 100 years. LBJ and McNamara damaged our nation in ways that are even now still felt 50 plus years later. If we allow any foreign entity to dictate to us when, where and how we can or cannot go, history will see it as the moment the United States abdicated its stature as a world power. Our influence in the Pacific rim and all of southeast Asia will not recover.
Pelosi should have never announced her intent to visit Taiwan but she did and now we must follow through with those plans, period.

We abdicated our stature the day Facebook launched. We told the world we were a country full of cucks and we even posted pics to prove it.

I don't think we have, but if the secretary of defense and the joint chiefs of staff cower down from a fight with any Chinese plane that acts aggressively towards our planes, we're done as the world power. We need to figure out how much of our military secrets the Chinese have stolen anyway.

Dont care for Pelosi and who knows if a good idea to go but now that she is going, for certain do not stop because China gripes about it. Besides, they know that this is not from the Biden admin, it is from a member of congress. They know the difference very very well. China is just being aggressive like the bully on the street so then when they are nice to us, we roll over on our bellies for them.

You are a welcome addition to the voice of reason to the board. Some of this back and forth between the two sides in this thread are laughable.

There are a few things at play. 1) China hasn't been this provocative since 1995 apparently. 2) the current clowns running the country are weak and feekless 3) Pelosi should not have been so public 4) we can't cower and ball up in the fetal position.

Weakness invites aggression and makes things more volatile in the world. These social experiment and, race and gender pariah programs are killing our credibility worldwide.

She will come down with the Corona or MonkeyPox and have to be rushed back to the US due to cautionary/medical measures.

Has the Vodka Express landed yet?

SPAR20, USAF C-40C (737 variant) just passed the southern tip of Kyushu (Japan) and headed directly toward Taiwan. There was an article in the past day saying the Vodka Express was on a C-40 called SPAR19, so probably a good chance Pelosi (or a delegation) is headed in the Taiwan direction right now.
