Penn State scandal (merged)

Reminds me of a line from the movie, High Plains Drifter with Clint Eastwood:
"Just what do you consider going too far? Isn't forcible rape in broad daylight a misdemeanor in this town?"

Not at all. This argument is obviously going over some folks heads and I can't continue to make it all night. McQueary is culpable obviously and I have stated as such. He was in way over his head, although he should've reported the crime to law enforcement. Clear so far? Paterno is the top of the food chain and was told about what happened by an eye witness. Right? It was his obligation to see to it that these crimes were reported to law enforcement, if not only to save his legacy at the university, but to make sure there would be no more victims of the ******* raping children.

The story is that the father told paterno. That would be hear say at that point. My outrage is with the McQueary guy getting a pass in all this scrutiny and Joe Pa taking it up the ass for something he isn't even the second worse person in.

Both should have insisted that it got to law enforcement. If that means it goes to the AD, then the VP, then the Pres. so be it. If they drop the ball you pick it up.

I would too.

This!! Its funny how the media can push someone out the door. the guy that actually witnessed the act and decided not to do anything should be fired and shot!!! and yet hes still employed. But hey!!! the media got what they wanted. They made damn sure joepa was out. Its a sad day for the victims. A guy who could have stopped it decided to walk away and just put it in the hands of someone else. :(

you have to wonder how long Sandusky goes before he starts the car in his garage
I wouldn't be surprised in the least if that happens very soon. Although people that do crap like he has done are probably miserable cowards that are scared to do the right thing.

Where the hell is McQueary getting a pass? JoPa taking it up the ass is an interesting choice of words.

You sound more concerned about JoPa taking it up the ass than the actually kids who actually were.

JoPa getting the so called shaft should be the last thing people should be focusing on right now.

haha Yeah, well either way its not an admission of guilt. Just the prudent thing to do at this point.

This also maybe part of the "we don't know the whole story" line as well.

Depending on which way this goes, the first comment the attorney may have to defend was when JP claimed he wished he had done more.

Agreed. Itd save the state money but only give a portion of justice to the victims. With that said, I guess it's base on preference. Would you rather him off himself or be sentenced to 1000's of years in jail? To each their own. Me? Off himself in jail.

How about the route Jeffery Dahmer went. Get snuffed by inmates that take a very dim view of rapists and child molesters. Guess what, dude fits both categories.

He's still coaching and joe is the hotter topic of ridicule than McQueary is. Blaming joe pa for this is a scapegoat to deter away from the real problem at hand and that is Sandusky and a coward of a witness. You griping about joe pa shows the same thing that you just accused me off. "not caring about the victims". I suggest you leave that crap at the door because it's stupid to even accuse anyone here of.

My personal belief is that Paterno was in denial about the whole thing until this recent firestorm. Somebody posted a couple of times today that he "didn't know what was in" the Grand Jury report. Thats entirely possible so he may not have understood the breadth of this thing.

Not trying to minimize, I just think the old man was in a state of total denial and disbelief, regardless of what he was told or thought he was told by McQueary or anyone else along the way. Its not evident to me that he has a total grasp of reality.

I'm not griping about JoPa. I just agree that the right thing was done when he was fired. The BOT firing McQueary at this point does not do the damage control that is needed to save this university.

May I also suggest you looking up whistle blower law
