Penn State scandal (merged)

It's on the police also. It was reported to them back in 1998:realmad:

"Two months ago, state police at Rockview in Centre County began calling witnesses to a May 1998 report by Penn State University police detailing an earlier allegation of inappropriate contact against Sandusky by another boy. That boy, who was 12 at the time, alleged he and Sandusky were showering in the football building on Penn State’s campus when the incident took place.

The boy’s mother told The Patriot-News she was specifically instructed by state police at Rockview not to speak with a reporter. The boy told police in 1998 that Sandusky had showered with him in a locker room of the Lasch Building during a tour. The boy claimed Sandusky washed his body during the shower, sources said."

Don't be too quick to put it all on the police. They could have presented the case to the district attorney's office, but it's up to the DA's office whether or not to prosecute.

It's somewhere up in that ball park.

Just watching Anderson Cooper on the DVR, had some prosecutor on who specializes in abuse cases, and said that many universities actually have protocols in place for predation. There is a chain of command, apparently, and there is a designated person somewhere on the totem pole (higher than head football coach) to work with police on these sort of things. So I guess JoePa could have been in breach of some sort of contact if he went to the police.

Not alleviating him, but I think it does change the picture.

The problem with that is that he clearly does what he wants to do, as evidenced by them asking him to step down/resign a few years back and he said "no" and walked out of the room. He may not have been legally the man in charge, but he was still the man in charge.

Not sure if you saw the article I posted, but the original DA went missing and his body has not been found. I think this is gonna be a mess and a lot is gonna come out of the woodwork from other victims to people in the know rolling on each other.

He got very emotional this morning on SC and had to take a moment to regain his composure.

I just read the 23 page indictment. There are more boys coming forward as well. What a sick person, and anyone with knowledge of his actions and didn't report to the police should be in jail. Period. Their lack of action allowed him to keep raping young boys and those kids may not have fell victim if common sense was used, the police were called, and Sandsickme would have been arrested.
Ask yourself, if your 10 yr old son was raped by a man and it could have been prevented, but everyone that knew covered it up, how would you feel?
I'd feel like killing them all.

Rinaldi said this morning on radio that the board may let Joe finish the season. Board meets tonight. Also said Spanier is likely no longer in power.

on the backs of severely abused, 10yo boys. Enjoy your smiley face

abused boys, text book scandel, free buffets. I dont care. I hate PSU and Joe Pa. After getting his butt kicked in Knoxville he vowed to never be beat by us again and stayed true to his word. Plus, their fans are azzholes. If you ever went to a bowl game against them you'd understand. I'm just glad to watch them dig their grave.

this is the wrong time to hope a team or school goes down. With what happened I don't see how you can even care about what happened in the past with football. Football is nothing compared to what happened to these boys. I feel like I, maybe us, should be doing something to show support to these victims and you want to talk about a game? Classy.

You may be the first to enjoy the fall of a program where child abuse and molestation was the slope.

yes, this was an aweful event and by no means wish it on any child. IMO, something bad happened to Joe Pa and he's dragging the entire PSU rep into the mud. Good riddence. Karma, Joe Pa.

You do realize that it took covering up multiple child rapes in order for them to "dig their own grave." I would have much rather seen them NOT rape boys and cover it up, and be well out of the grave. You are a sick person.

yeah, except you posted

best to just back out now since there is no one going to agree with you (at least I hope not)

Kids got railed in the ass and you're happy that it brings the fall of a football program. Fans like you are the reason this crap was covered up in the first place.

But they are planning a rally to boot the president at high noon.

This whole scandal and fans responses really shows you what is wrong w the importance we place on sports.

Fans have too big a connection to their teams, players and coaches that borders almost on a sickness.

It's fine to root for your team, but in the grand scheme of things who really cares. I don't lose any sleep after a loss. I understand. Being passionate and getting excited for big games and wanting to beat a big rival, but at the end of the day it doesn't affect your day to day life.
