Penn State scandal (merged)

Remember he had never been 'charged' with a crime unti this weekend. I am sure Joe Pa believed the guy was incorrectly accused before he saw the report.

So, you think Paterno honestly believed that the GA that he later promoted to WR Coach and Recruiting Coordinator just made up a lie about Sandusky, one of Paterno's good friends, raping a little kid?

Maybe Paterno just promotes people he thinks wrongfully accuse his close friends of ass raping children.

It was a complete failure on all levels, AD all the way to Joe Pa. You don't let something like that go. You most definitely don't sweep it under the rug and let it keep on happening. I'd be ashamed to be associated with anything to do with that program, period.

Falsely accusing a colleage of being a child molesting, rapist pedophile is, FROWNED UPON, in this establishment and not conducive to a prolonged career.
Or life for that matter.

You're a rational dude. But I don't agree w the lynch mob mentality on Paterno st this point.

This is NOT a lynch mob. It's rational people outraged at the behavior of a man who claimed moral high ground-that Penn State somehow did it better and cleaner.

you're reaching a lot on this one. I'll reach too. I am assuming he respected and trsted his three bosses to properly look into the matter. He thought it serious enough to call a meeting on a sunday

So, the question remains for vol520, if Paterno didn't believe an eyewitness report that Sandusky raped a little kid, why did he promote the guy he thought made it up? I'm interested to hear a response to that.

How is that reaching? You claim Paterno didn't believe the report, correct? The guy he later promoted to recruiting coordinator is the one that gave him the report. So, for your position to be true, Paterno would have had to promote someone that he believed was falsely accusing his friend of raping children. Now, how much sense does that make?

how am I ignorant? I just don't think paterno is a villain or a piece of ****.

I don't know you. I only addressed your ignorant comments about luring kids with coke and candy. He didn't lure. He just watched as one of his friends and coaches did, while turning his head to the matter.

Had that conversation today. No way donations don't flat out disappear. Funds will shrink. Attorney fees in the millions and lawsuits in the 100's of millions. Any holdings that PSU has--land, other assets-will be taken over.
These are obviously just my opinions, but I don't know how PSU will survive, unless there is some legal mojo that prevents them from certain liabilities and prevents them from going under due to PSU being a state university.

14 billion in endowments can hold them for a few years. They have 95k students across the state who wont just quit.

Then I don't know what's wrong with you then. Someone who witnessed the rape went to Paterno and told him what he observed. How in the Hell can it be argued that he didn't know what was going on? I'll answer that: it can't.

And then jo pa promoted the witness to a fulltime coaching job. Jo pa is a piece of garbage!

didn't notice the question, not trying to avoid anything. I don't think he didn't believe the ga. The ga obviously acted like a coward, who knws wtf he said to paterno. I am guessing it was something, like hey I saw so and so in the shower w what I thin was a kid and it was weird etc. Who knows if he said, hey coach dude was butt ****ing this kid that was 8. The ga was a coward so I am sure he had trouble really conveying what he say. Paterno tells his bosses the next day, and then the real issues started.

This is exactly what should happen. This means there's going to be some people get annihilated for this, and that's exactly what needs to happen.

Why would you want people to get annihilated? Just because there was some "alleged" child rape over the course of at least the last 15 years doesn't mean anyone needs to lose a job....get off your anti-child molester high horse lawvol.

I don't for one second think joe pa knew the guy was really this sick and twisted. I could be wrong, but I just don't feel that way.

This a scandal.Mike Price didnt keep his job at Alabama when he went to the strip club.Gary Barnett didnt keep his job when he looked the other way and made a insensitive remarks when a girl was raped by the football team at Colorado. If these coaches didnt survive the fallout what makes Paterno think he can. The court of public opinion has spoken. In that court the people are the judge and jury.

Paterno called Tim Curley, Penn State Athletic Director and Paterno's immediate supererior, to his home the very next day, a Sunday, and reported to him that the graduate assistant had seen Jerry Sandusky in the Lasch Building showers fondling or doing something of a sexual nature to a young boy.

From the grand jury.
