Penn State scandal (merged)

It's ok, according to the NCAA, to allow child rapes to occur on site. It's not a violation. However, when that child turns 18 and is a recruit, you better not grill him a burger and lie about it.

Everyone knows that the NCAA won't do anything about it.

Just heard PSU let some students into the press conference, and they were the ones yelling out during it for answers.

Loved how the student reporters broke almost every journalistic code with the questions they asked the PSU Board member on national TV. Guess he won't work in journalism. All that money he will oh for his education down the drain.

Put 5000 liquored up 20 year olds on a lawn right after running their bear Bryant out on a rail and see what happens.

Well the way people were making it sound I was expecting some combination of the Texas A&M bonfire/UT mattress burning x 1000. Looks more like College Game Day right now.

Guess I'll have to catch the aftermath in the morning.

You weren't alive when Bear Bryant was. He isn't.

I wasn't, so I shouldn't make those statements. But I mean, Alabama has always had a great football program. Joe Paterno has been the face of Penn State for 40 years.

Sad, sad way to see a legend go down. Joe Paterno will always be remembered as a pioneer of college football. He deserves this, do not get me wrong, but at the same time my heart hurts, because the game I love so much is losing a legend.

I know. It just adds to the craziness. The NCAA tries to nail schools on ethical charges and failure to monitor charges and institutional control charges for minor stuff, but sits back and has no say here, which is the epitomy of lack of institutional control with coaches and administration involved from a GA to the President. If that's not a lack of control, I don't know wtf is.
They let child rapes continue by hiding it. Just amazing.

If Joe truly regrets not doing more, then I hope he finds some peace. However, the pain of regret is greater than any other pain he could ever experience. Lesson learned.

He'll be remembered for enabling a serial child rapist. And, he brought it on himself.

Exactly.

Yet giving a kid a free t-shirt of letting him work out with someone associated with the Pros is a real problem.

Not by everybody now imo.

Paterno is the beloved face of the university who eventually became a sort of lovable mascot. He was the symbol of their Happy Valley fairy tale.

Alabama fans almost literally thought Bryant was a god.

Head football coach Joe Paterno and the President of the Univesity have been fired!:eek:hmy::rock:
Football and academics must go on at Happy Valley. How will this affect the football season at Penn Sate with two huge Big 10 conference games coming up between Nebraska and Ohio State?

I guess the only difference is that NCAA regulates competitive practices. This situation basically just concerns severe criminal behavior.
