Per Twitter Tee Declines

Tee is making TWICE the amount of money he would get here...I wold love to have him back but I can honestly say I can't blame him...He is building a nice future for himself and his family at a high profile school....One day he may return to UT but for now I wish him and his family the very best and hope he does well.

I think its better for UT that Tee did turn it down. I think the only reason he was offered was from a PR standpoint. I think Butch knew Tee wouldnt take it. I think its better if Butch gets someone with his mindset(like the other coaches he brought in). I wish Tee the best and Im glad he didnt come.

You couldn't be further off from reality if you tried. Oh wait, you did try.

Kiffin ain't getting fired next year. He has another top 5 if not top class coming up. He also will have a new defensive coordinator.

That don't mean nothing, he will still have an inexperienced QB and KIffin does less with more. USC recruits well every year and where has that got them? Kiffin goes 7-5 or 8-4 he will be gone.

Good lord that is idiotic. At least he tried to get him on board, as opposed to Dooley who wouldn't even return Tee's call when he wanted to come here.

If he can't sell one of Tennessee's own on his program and his vision while holding a $350,000+ check in front of him... how is he going to get a LB or a RB out of Georgia or Louisiana to buy in?

This, IMO, can be directly correlated to his ability or inability to recruit. Tennessee is not a hotbed for talent, so in most cases we're going to have to pull kids out of state and away from the hometown school and more importantly away from Momma. If the wife comments are true regarding Tee's decision... clearly Butch didn't do enough to sell Momma.

I hope I'm wrong.... but as the Dooley and Sunseri debacle showed us, that's not likely.

And for the record... I'm not a negabutch... just calling it like I see it. I hope he does well here but this is what it is... his first failure as UT's coach. It was a must hire and he didn't make it happen. It was the one guy that would bring a sense of perceived credibility to the staff amongst the Vol faithful. Big miss imo.

UT has been a career killer for the three coaches here. Assistants can go else where but it takes a while to wash the stink off. The problem isn't necessarily the money but the control issue and Hart's ego.

EDIT - With the exception of Kiffin who left quickly.

It's a a business decision, yes. But after this, I hope Tennessee never offers Tee another coaching job. Doesn't deserve another chance to come back here. Have fun at USC, Tee. Don't come back.

:rock:IF I've said it once, I've said it 1000 times...Get your heart in Tennessee, or get your Arse out....Simple...coaches, recruits, players, fans, etc....Why would any fan want someone who didn't want to be here...? I don't get it...IF you don't desire to wear the Orange, run the T, or represent YOUR state, or THE state of Tennessee, then git........If you do, i'll fight for ya...!

Not a good start Butch.

You can't control the result, only the activity.

The fact that Jones is reaching out and mending fences with former players and coaches represents the right activity which eventually get the results we need.

It would have been nice to have Tee Martin as an assistant, but no person above the program.

Sorry Count, I was so distraught over Tee not moving to Jonestown I quoted the wrong post.

Where did you get that?

Well let's be honest, USC is much better than us right now. They have the #1 class coming in and Tee wants to be a part of it. Los Angeles is one of THE cities and his family likes it there. I honestly think he wanted to come back, but he has to think of his family in the long run. Tennessee right now isn't proven and we just got a brand new staff and it's going to take some time to get back on top. USC is basically there already, they just have to play a little better. And plus, California is a recruiter's dream

But he could have HELPED us get there...

Where did you get that?

USC is a private school, they do not disclose the coaches salaries and it is well known USC pays their coaches a lot more than most schools...Kiffin went form making 2 million HERE to making 4 million THERE...You figure it out...Doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out.
