Good point. Unfortunately there is considerable tampering going on in D1 women's basketball. Our history of signing transfers makes one wonder if we are doing everything by the book. This situation looks fishy. It may be above board but it still looks suspect and it may be the Belmont coach is aware of inappropriate contact or he may just be very frustrated at losing his two best players. The rich get richer. It seems like pro sports has arrived on campus. I don't like the NIL. Just hope we are at least following the rulesI only saw a tweet from an assistant coach. Seemed to be quite animated about some team in the tournament making direct or indirect contact with player(s) on his team. We're all adults here so whether we said it out loud or not...lot of folks thought he was talking about TN. Or you at least had a list and TN was on it. I know I did for a few reasons. Belmont is in TN. TN needed a steady PG. As far as I know...she never showed interest in any other school. Nothing he can do about a player leaving, but I certainly understand why he would be upset, and probably explains why this happened so fast. Just keeping it real.
Nevertheless, Wells is an insane upgrade from Walker. I’m glad she’s here! I just hope she doesn’t come here and her game disappears, similar to Powell.
Key is good defensively when she stays in the paint. But teams will pull their bigs out of the paint to drag her out from the paint, and that's when
there are problems....
Well, this is a nice pickup, but let's not go all wobbly here. Remember it took Powell most of the season before she looked and played with confidence and effectiveness on the floor. And she was an all Big 10 PG before she transferred in. I see this as adding depth to be developed for the postseason run.
I agree, it’s an adjustment to the SEC. Wells has the right tools but we have to see how they translate. Very good pick-up and a great start to the portal season for UT.
Truly think this staff has decided they would prefer to recruit in this way rather than taking large classes of freshmen.
