Players can Unionize!!!

How about the players that make it to the NBA be forced to pay a potion of their millions back to the NCAA, since it was the NCAA that allowed them to showcase their talents on TV and get noticed by NBA scouts, etc. Seems fair, doesn't?

See, it works both ways and is a very slippery slope.

then they'd have to drop the college requirement and let them go to the NBA at any point

Horse-drawn carriages did an admirable job of getting people from place to place for several centuries. But I'll stick with my car.

I thought bammers rode elephants with crystal balls with nick saban tattoos to where they needed to go.

Don't Unions pretty much set their own rules?

Coaches won't have much say when the team practices and for how long. Players will ***** about early morning workouts, the food they eat, like they don't already get enough free stuff already. Goodbye college football as we know it.

Except in very few instances, the name on the front of the jersey is the value in college sports and not the name on the back. Its why almost 100,000 go to Neyland even when we have a losing record. The ones that think they are entitled to extra money are replaceable and the school's revenue stream would not miss a beat.

If the demand was so high for these players and money could be made by paying players too young for the NFL, someone would have already started a farm league to do so.

But there will always be players that will need a year or two of college to develop their talent to the level needed for the NBA

Then they can all go to Europe and you will never see high quality college basketball again. Enjoy watching Skylar McBee's everywhere.

There is 18.1 BILLION from the NCAA. A sixteen team playoff would probably raise that close to $25B. There is plenty of money for every student athlete. They don't want to give it away.

Why would the NFL want to funnel money to a minor league system when they already have a free one?

The free one would fold. I can't see schools like Georgia St., Temple, or Eastern Michigan to be able to keep operating if they had to pay players.
The NCAA and big schools spends a lot of money propping up lower end college athletics.

I don't care what they do, as long as football stays the same, and schools don't get any unfair advantages over other schools.

that 18.1 billion is a bogus figure.

the ncaa did not, does not, earn 18.1 billion dollars in a year.

what they do get, like ncaa tournament television money, is mostly distributed to the schools and is part of the revenue that the schools earn.

it's like hearing about the money a school receives for a bcs bowl bid. do you know how many schools have lost money as a result of earning a bcs bowl bid?

To add to your excellent points you have made on this topic

If Universities are so rich, why do they rely on booster money to pay for coaches salaries, enhancements to facilities, etc..?

This cash cow is merely a made up dream

there are places where i am sure every school can trim its budget and give a slice to the athletes.

the question is how much? is it enough?

and golly gee, which schools is this going to be a problem for and which schools would this not be an issue.

also, is the monetary value of the scholarship a factor. for sake of argument (and i am making up numbers here), a full rude for a year to vandy is worth $50,000. a full ride to florida is worth $10,000. so, how does that factor in?

one of the lies in this is "greedy" schools have been willing to shell out cash on behalf of athletes for a long time. they have been restricted by the ncaa because other schools can't afford to do the same.

as an example, there were many schools that planned, back in the day, to build athletic dorms that were palaces. that didn't happen because the ncaa wanted to keep large schools from making their advantage even larger

another example are championship rings. there is a limit on the value of a conference or national title ring

i looked it up earlier, the tv money mentioned that the ncaa makes for the bcs and ncaa tournament is for the entirety of the tv deal, not the tv money made per year.

a lot of people have no clue what "net" and "gross" are, too.

people don't know the money spent on compliance departments and so forth.

and as i also mentioned at one time, what about high school football?

there are high school programs that make money.

are they employees as well? if so are high schools in violation of child labor laws? some of them have local radio and television deals, too.

I want you to remember this the next holiday you have off work, the next time you get paid overtime, and the next weekend you have off.

I could go on.

One of the many union lies. They claim that the 5 day work week was created by the union. Henry Ford created the 5 day work week so people would have time to enjoy his products.

I work for my off time and holiday time and I do not owe any union for that.

That's the point. They would if they could make money off these athletes. They know it is a losing venture without the University's name on the uniform.

I don't care how you feel about paying players but in what world does this make any sense?

Say that I'm an agent for a second and my client was the suspected #1 draft choice in the NFL draft

Since I can now pay him, being a 3rd party, I slip him some dollars and tell him to lay down so as to not hurt my cash cow when it comes to the NFL.

Now, I'm an agent with a gambling problem and I owe debt to a shady character that goes by the name of "Tommy Thumbs". Now, I start paying the player to shave points or to do other things to throw games. You know, money talks and BS walks.

You start throwing money out to these kids that have never had anything, its going to start a cycle of cheating that would make SMU look like baby crap.

You thought the NCAA exploited these kids. You haven't seen **** yet.

It would disband the NCAA eventually
