Politics aside, tonight's speech

I assume you're going to tell me about how the education of the general populace made a great civilization, as I was under the impression that we were talking about the masses. Clearly the burgoise of every great civilization was educated, but that's nothing new. What does that have to so with the general populace?

You make a point that I cannot easily contest. I will say that everyone needs some sort of education to survive, otherwise how would anyone know how to cultivate lands, raise livestock, etc.

Let me sleep on this a little and I will try to give you a little better response.

i learned those things from my father and other friends who had farms I grew up around. I didn't need a formal education to learn that. Not that I have chosen to follow that path though. If I can ever own a big enough slice of land, I will have my own garden though with fresh veggies abundant.

i listened completely to Obama. His plans are going through now and for the next four years (well at least the next two) so what he goes after is probably going to happen. I have to make sure I know his plans so I can prepare accordingly. Plus I noticed that while he mentioned the person with mortage problems, the person with healthcare issues, the person who just lost their job, the person who can't afford to get an education, he left me out. Where do I stand? I'm stuck with two crappy paying jobs, a Master's Degree and $300 a month in student loan bills I can barely afford. How am I going to get help?

thats probably the best point anyone has made in this entire thread. WHAT ABOUT THE MIDDLE MAN? The $250,000 ppl get no pitty from me, the will make it and low income families will get help, its the ppl in your position that im really concerned about.

If Bobby Jindal is the best and brightest the GOP has to offer, you can go ahead and put the toe tag on the party's corpse.

BJ made a statement about their corrupt days being over. hahaha. big load of bull right there. LA has enough problems he needs to worry about fixing, i hope he isnt part of the problem. from some of the reading ive reading ive done he just seems naive and not a crook.

Btw robbins, I don't need a place to stay, but you can help me pay back student loans if you want...

Whoa. Whoa. Whoa, if myrobbins is handing out it must be equal. I have a small amount of student loans you can also take a stab at.

I listened to Obama's speech.Didn't bother with the repub's response.

I think the most striking thing I came away with was the atmosphere of the Chamber.I have watched speeches in that chamber for a lot of years.I saw more standing and applause from the right, this night that at any other time in the last 40 years.Simply amazing.:eek:hmy:

They got pretty wild at Hitler's speeches too. Not comparing, just saying what does that have to do with anything pertaining to actually doing his job.

Jindal's hokey, golly gee whiz response was disappointing to say the least. He's a Rhodes Scholar and shouldn't have to stoop down and give a Lamar Alexander plaid shirt "I'm a conservative, watch me rawr" speech.

If any of you watched Hannity, I was doubly disappointed in Eric Cantor, who struck a very RINO-ish tone in his reaction, particularly when he said that last week's debate is the past, the stimulus bill passed and now he just hopes it all works out.

Michael Steele should have given the response, and if not him, it should have been Newt Gingrich, Mike Pence or Jim Demint.

poor people will pay, trust me, when gas taxes go back up, when companies are raising prices becasue their taxes are raised, they'll suffer just has the middle class. what you liberal don't understand is that companies don't pay taxes, they are taxed but they pass the taxes on to consumers.

welcome to the peoples republic of america and Hussein will be the grand imperial (liberal) wizard

hussein's speach can be translated as such. we will tax you more, the government will control more private companies, the government will run your life more. socialism, here we come.

Please for the love of god tell me why if you have no pitty for us folks making $250,000 or more (which im not looking for pitty or need it), why should we have pitty for the folks making under that? Nobody gave me my wealth, I EARNED IT. Try it out sometimes, it works if your put your mind to it.

The speech was nothing more than the same old propagandist rhetoric Obama always spews.

Someone needs to tell the idiot that the election is over. He can quit campaigning, and try to do something of substance.

I think he was thrown up there where he could let America know that the GOP is diverse as well, with him being the son of immigrants and what not.

Also, the man came into the game already down by ten. He was fighting an uphill battle the whole speech.

If Obama is even close to the best and brightest this country can find to be POTUS. We can go ahead and put the toe tag on the nation's corpse.

We are stuck with the Big O...pray to god there is someone out there besides BJ! Just another JC Watts if you ask me.

How many times did he say the deficit we inherited. Planting the seed, so when things go belly up he can use the "it was the bush adminstrations fault" excuse.

the only thing that i have ever agreed with the barackstar on was when he said "education starts at home with the mother and the father and they should be held more accountable. This is neither a republican or a democrat idea." great!!! common sense though

Holding parents accountable on education, but giving them free money left and right plus some healthcare.

Gee, wonder if that's more empty campaign gibberish?
