That bullpen is filthy.I believe the starters will be a combo of Drew Beam and 2 of Holman (who obviously isn’t on roster yet, AJ Russell, Matthew Dallas, and Wyatt Evans). I think if they land Holman it’s Beam/Holman/Russell and if not it’s Beam/Russell/Dallas
Your bullpen will include:
RHP - Causey, Snead, Combs (if he is back), JJ Garcia, Hunter Sloop, Austin Hunley
LHP - Evans, Kirby, Sechrist, Behnke, Dylan Loy, Brayden Sharp, Bryson Thacker
If you land Holman, then you get to add either Dallas or Russell to that bullpen group. Obviously not all of the guys listed will play a ton (they’ll settle on their 3-4 main guys from each side), but that’s still a pretty big embarrassment of riches in the pitching department
They are also after a LHP in the portal but I haven’t really heard if those plans changed when they got so many guys to campus from the recruiting class
To preachermans point, when I say not intentional, I think Burns took things one way where Tony and Frank didn’t necessarily mean it that way. Just a miscommunication, but Burns no longer had full trust in his coaches and whether that was logical or not, if a guy has lost trust, he’s lost trust.
Bottom line, is he didn’t trust that they would start him all next year (and Tony/Frank wouldn’t promise it either). I think if he had stuck with it he would’ve had a monster year as a starter, but they had proven before that if he wasn’t performing they would move him and do what’s best for the team. And from Burns perspective he wants a guaranteed starting spot because that’s the difference in probably over a million dollars for him in 12 months.
I don’t think any side hates the other, and Burns still competed his ass off until the year was up, but the fact is the two sides were simply no longer aligned
I do not hate CB but I don't really care how he does from this point forward. I definitely appreciate everything that he did while here! Was huge for us out of the pen! The way I look at it is that if he becomes a 10 time MLB all-star he will be referred to as being from Wake and that makes me be meh about his future.
Burns might have wanted a little more explanation than he got? I am sure Vitello and Anderson had more than a few minutes in explaining their reason. I think Burns knew why he went to the pen and so did everyone else. Vitello is very aware about making sure those players know the “why” part to what he does. That was a huge move, and one which Burns had to understand but just didn’t like. They are excellent communicators and recruiters. And they absolutely do not promise guys things (that I’ve heard of) or intentionally mislead kids
But there’s no doubt if you’re a guy not playing as much you aren’t getting the same level of communication as a regular player. I think from Burns perspective he might’ve wanted a little more explanation than he got, whereas TV and FA probably felt they were just doing what was best for the team.
But you are right in the sense that once Burns got moved to the pen he was probably gone no matter how good the communication was before during and after. He wants to start next year for draft purposes and his agents have planted it is in his head that it’s not a guarantee at tennessee (and frankly, it isn’t a guarantee because V has proven he will do what’s best for the team and he refuses to promise guys anything - it has to be earned)
I realize all of that. If you earn more or less, the EFC can change from year to year. That’s why you complete the CSS or FAFSA yearly. Income of the student is a component, so when the look back on your taxes is done, the EFC may be adjusted. Thanks for sharing
Meeting the full need of the student means if the family EFC is 10k they pay 10k. If it’s zero then they pay nothing
It’s different for every student.
so an nil deal could disrupt that for some and not others
Hope that makes sense
Outside of Burns, no one that left was going to see significant time. That’s why they left, which is understandable. Outside of the guys drafted (and Burns), who has left that you think would have seen meaningful time or innings?
Just saying what I was told man, didn’t say if it was right or wrong. I’ve said many times I think Burns and his agent were overreacting and are making a mistake, but it is what it isBurns might have wanted a little more explanation than he got? I am sure Vitello and Anderson had more than a few minutes in explaining their reason. I think Burns knew why he went to the pen and so did everyone else. Potential for either, and either way whoever ends up there is going to be a good player just by virtue of they have a ton of talented kids they’ve brought in and multiple will be competing for that spot. Logic tells you whoever wins out will be pretty goodI guess we turn our attention to SS now, especially with Jaslove in the portal. Does Vitello roll with Kendro/Freshman or is there a potential take in the portal?

I can only speak to my son but he has great communication with Frank, Tony, Que, and Elander. I would say that daily he has a conversation with multiple coaches and staff. Maybe, whoever you are talking to is not a good communicator. When we do the podcast, all of the young men speak very highly of the coaching staff and we have interviewed almost every starter on last year's team. They all talk about having the best coaching staff in the nation. If they could not communicate, then it would have come out. Some times people forget that communication is a two-way street. I would think that most people have communication with others if they want feedback. I cannot believe that the coaching staff does not talk to their players. Even this summer when he is not on campus daily he is still talking to the coaching staff and leadership.I’m speaking of 1:1 communication and feedback. Whether you’re a starter, riding the bench, or get occasional time, it’s not happening. Whether you believe that or not, doesn’t really matter to me. I feel pretty good with my source.
Maybe he wondered why Dollander didn't get sent to pen or miss a start he wasn't setting the world on fire on the mound around the same time!!!!Burns might have wanted a little more explanation than he got?
