It sounds like TV and FA have done about as good of a job as you can expect here. As long as NIL isn’t the only factor, I think we win.
Honestly, if UT doesn’t get him, it’s not the end of the world. He has SEC experience, yes. But his SEC numbers as a whole are not lights out. ERA 4.60 and k/bb ratio isn’t great. 39k to 21bb. Those are things that can be improved for sure if he ends up in Knoxville. Would be a solid get, no doubt. But not the end of the world if not. Just my opinion.

I bet Georgia wishes they played Charlie Condon his freshman year. Now they'll only be able to use him for 2 seasons.

Pretty big reason they have a new coaching staff

SEC average ERA this year was 5.09.

I think our NIL will be competitive and we may not necessarily have to beat LSU's offer outright in this case, based on the fact that he and his family seem so careful about due diligence. I don't gather that they're merely comparing bids. I think it's going to come down to which staff and opportunity they think is a better fit.

Look how far we've come with CTV already. We may take a contested guy from the CWS winner. And a pitcher from the guys with the top two draft picks. I really won't be surprised either way this turns out. And it was only a month ago that the board sounded like LSU could simply buy anyone they want.

Well, Dollander and Burns both had incredibly high ERA’s this year. ERA was very inflated this year across the SEC, so don’t let that one number deceive you.

TIFWIW but Eric Cain doesn’t think that NIL will be a big factor in this recruitment. If so, I think we win.
That's what I was thinking. Provided that by not a being a "big factor" he means competitive but not necessarily the highest offer. From what I've gleaned, I think the decision turns on coaches and program dynamics. This would be a big recruiting win imo. I'm not counting LSU out based on the things I said above. They have something to sell, too. But I like our chances.

Batting average against was .191. If he can cut down on the walks, he will be a really great addition. That was SEC-play only. Quite impressive.

Dont disagree. I said It would be a good pickup and that the walks would be fixed by the UT staff. Just not the end of the world if he doesn’t land in Knoxville. All I’m saying is I’m confident there are guys on the UT roster or coming in that would step up if he doesn’t choose to play there.

I disagree

When a kid jumps ship the politically correct privacy protection from the team is lost. Screw em when they leave
Of course you disagree with the universally accepted opinion. Shocking revelation.

Still, as a coach of a major university athletics program, you can think those things and it's fine. You might even say them in private or "off the record". You vocalize them publicly and it is extremely unprofessional the same way it would be for your boss to say it about you if you left for another job. That isn't really debatable.

May have an impact on his recruiting efforts as well. Can’t imagine that will escape the radar of potential recruits and their parents.
