Surely, Shirley, this isnt about money.
We are spending gobs of money to rehab LNS to make us a big time player in college baseball.
So we have the money to outbid other suitors, you would think.
Maybe those who said he was upset about going to the bullpen are correct.
Anyway, I hate to see him go, especially if it’s to an SEC school.
NIL money and renovation money aren't the same. But no, I think Tony and Frank don't see him as a starter and Chase sees himself as one.

Stadium money doesn't equate to NIL money.

I think k Wake would be a goof landing spot. With the pitching lab they are probably well suited to help develop a 3rd pitch.
Arky helped develop a nasty cutter for Kopps. But I'd hesitate to go there because DVH would run the kid into the ground without thinking twice.

Pitching from the pen would hurt his draft stock next year. But he wouldn’t be pitching from the pen next year (or this year) if he pitched well.
100% what was going to hurt his draft stock more than anything was the way he pitched as a starter against SEC opponents.

It's not about ERA it's about developing a 3rd pitch. Wherever he goes he's going to have to show either a changeup or curve to go in the first.

I understand the third pitch point. I was being a little tongue-in-cheek… but seriously, it would also help to be able to survive at least 5 innings without getting totally shelled.

I’m not addressing any particular position, but while the transfer portal is interesting, the best option may already be developing on Tennessee’s bench.
AJ Russell I do think will have a chance to start. He had electric stuff and at 6’6 the ball already half way there when he releases the ball. The program is in great hands with Vitello.

Agree 100%. The UT bench is talented. Full of players that want to be there and compete. I know they are working hard to get their shot. If they aren’t good enough, they wouldn’t be there. There are several that grade out higher than average within my org. Fully expect to see some of those pitchers and position players develop and contribute next season.

I’ll say this much, if he does go out of conference to TCU or some other school where he won’t play us, I’ll get over it quickly and it will be whatever. No harm, no foul. But if the tampering allegations are true, and he goes to LSU or Vandy and does Vitello and Anderson dirty like that….well I’ll just stop there.

Just curious what org are you with? I understand if you can't say.

Exactly go somewhere where we won't see him unless we both make it to Omaha and I be fine. Stay in conference and be a thorn in our side well.........

Let Chase Go. Revoke VFL Card. This is the new scene in NCAA, Portal & NIL get use to it. Big adjustment for him no matter where he goes. Grass may or may not be greener. Take your ball and glove and move on. Ironically, you and Jalen Hurd are from the same HS. Figures. Must be something in the water.

edit: Hurts to Hurd.

Burns did this in hs. It’s always worth noting when kids change high schools. Doesn’t mean they are going to leave but it certainly makes those chances greater imo

You think Alabama is revoking Luke Holman's Tide for life card?

It’s just a very sad situation. It never should have come to this. I don’t put the blame on any specific person, but Chase Burns should have “retired” a Vol. We shouldn’t have to be where we are.
I blame it on CB23; he’s being immature about the situation in the pen. Did he expect CTV and CFA to stick with him and continue to start him despite what the numbers were? Does he think the next staff (or any staff) would continue to roll with a player whose ERA is 12+ after 4 SEC starts? If he does, then that says all one needs to know about him. If he blames the staff for his bad ERA, due to pitch selection, location, development etc. then that’s another story. However, none of that can really be blamed when it’s the same guys calling the game for him when he comes out of the BP and he’s been dominant.

I thought someone might say that.
I mean the collective WE. There is plenty of money 💰 out there in our community that could be funneled thru SPYRE or whomever to keep Burns.

This is just silly. How much community money do we want to filter to a 20 year old kid playing baseball for another year? None. Maybe about tree fiddy if we're feeling generous. That should be the max. Burns is good, but this is college baseball. He's easily replaceable.
