Peebles only played 8 games behind the plate. Don’t know enough about NCSU to know if that’s cause someone better was ahead of him or just too much to put on a true FR and perhaps his time in the field would’ve increased in ‘24. A lots been made about him and I’m glad to have him, but in reality he was a DH in ‘23 and for only 65% of the season at that. That makes the production ratio even more attractive knowing it was accomplished in fewer AB’s.Can’t imagine he sticks around knowing he just got recruited over.
He was behind a catcher who is probably going top 100 in the draft when he comes outPeebles only played 8 games behind the plate. I don’t see Booker ever finding that light. I honestly thought he would hit the portal, no insider info, just a hunch. I expect the outfield to be Drieling, chapman, and Ensley
No offense, but I don't see how any poster can comment on Tony V or Frank Anderson's communication skills with their players unless they were in the room during the conversations. Based on every interview I've seen with Vitello, his communication skills are elite. I don't think that changes behind closed doors. Not sure why fans want to speculate in the negative constantly. A kid transfers for a variety of reasons. Sometimes it's just a bad fit. Doesn't mean TV isn't being up front in his discussions with players. Kids want to play. Kids want to be starters. Kids want to be closer to home. Happens. It's not always coaching malfeasance. Gotta say that the proof is in the pudding for me. TV and Anderson know how to recruit, build a roster and win. Their record speaks for itself. Personally, I'm as happy as a hog in slop because I remember Rods tenure all the way to TV. I appreciate the hell outta what we have right now. Burns is gone. Good luck to him but I'm not about to condemn, question or fault our staff in thos situation. They did what was best for this program and if a player gets upset, too bad. That's what the portal is for.I don't necessarily agree with how he worded it, but I do think there's a little merit to it.
I'd phrase it as there's an 'opportunity for growth' (i hate what the corporate world has done to me) with TV and FA right now in these situations. In a way they're victims of their own success. You have quality talent all over the place, but only 9 spots on the card and one guy on the mound.
I don't think TV/FA have issues with relationships at all. I think they can probably improve on communication with guys in the backend of the roster as far as innings, future plans, etc. What's coming out from some of the players and other programs is that guys have been told they'd be used in certain spots, get more innings, etc- but then it doesn't happen. Some guys can watch and understand. Some guys need to be talked to about it.
Given how much 'work' this past season was for the coaching staff (they looked fried at the end of the season, it was clear they did some heavy lifting, management wise), I don't expect that issue to continue. But, its a place to work on as they go along for sure.
Everybody wants to win then is disappointed when we recruit over the current talent. The SEC has won 4 straight CWS. It’s just the nature of the business to bring in top talent.I don’t believe the reason we’re seeing some turnover in the roster is due to players being recruited over.
It’s been stated in this thread already, but I’ll say it again.
TV and FA do a great job of accumulating talent, and kudos to them for what they’ve done for the program.
However, IMO, there’s some work to be done in building relationships with players and creating an atmosphere that makes players want to be here.
We’re quick to deify the coaches and vilify the players without knowing the full story many times.
Was he "checked out" by then? Not taking coaching? It makes we rethink his reaction at SM super region may not have been excessive exuberance directed at the USM. Maybe it was him making a statement to his coaches.
That was to you. He knew you'd see it.And the slash cut......
I think that's the plan with Galanie at 3rd if we can get him. Someone correct me if I'm wrong and yeah, that's likely a given with my record.
