Portal Activity (News and Rumors)

I think the plan would to start all 4 of Tears, Dreiling, Amick, and Galanie in some mix of 3B, LF, RF, and DH. But the positions can sort themselves out. Obviously Tears and Dreiling won't be at 3B, so they'll either play the 2 corner OF spots or one in a corner and one at DH. Galanie feels like 3B - he played it all year this year. Amick feels like either DH or LF, but maybe he plays 3B and Galanie plays LF or DHs. Or maybe they rotate these guys through a lot.

C- Peebles
1B- Burke
2B- CMO
SS- Kendro/Jaslove/Curley/Grimmer
3B- Galanie
LF- Amick
CF- Ensley
RF- Tears
DH- Dreiling

Best case scenario for the rest of the summer is Denton returns and plays 2B. Galanie learns to play SS. Amick 3B. Moore to the outfield.
Im surprised there's any chance Denton is back tbh.

Id be pretty thrilled with:
3B Amick
LF Dreiling
RF Moore
1B Villenueve/Burke
C Peebles
2B Denton
SS Galanie
CF Ensley
DH Tears

Or something close to that.

I don’t believe the reason we’re seeing some turnover in the roster is due to players being recruited over.
It’s been stated in this thread already, but I’ll say it again.
TV and FA do a great job of accumulating talent, and kudos to them for what they’ve done for the program.
However, IMO, there’s some work to be done in building relationships with players and creating an atmosphere that makes players want to be here.
We’re quick to deify the coaches and vilify the players without knowing the full story many times.
This is not true. Best coaching staff in America. They aren’t going to sacrifice the team to coddle a player.

Would this be considered a decent portal class? Needs met? Still wondering if we've got that stopper at SS and that guy who can really cover CF.

If we land Galanie as expected then those 4 players would indeed make it a very good transfer class. Get Holman and Amick and it becomes an ELITE class.

If Tony V and staff go 6/6 with those portal players. It’s the best damn portal haul in the country and Tennessee is preseason top 5 at worst.
And would we be done at that point?

I’d prefer to be 20-25 pre season. Better to not have all the hype in the world surrounding yet another squad that’ll need time to gel imo

I think those days have passed. We will get respect treatment. Top 15 at worst every year.
It’s not about respect, they were #2 to start last season and absolutely weren’t that good when the season began. They were top 5 good by the end, but I wouldn’t have even ranked them based on their first half of season performance.

‘24 team will need time just like this team did.
