'25 Portal Thread

They are out because we brought in Thornton and Brazzell. It's tough for your HS talent to see the field when you bring in transfers that take their reps
wonder how Oregon, OHST, TX, Bama (until this year) and others are able to do it ? They all have ridiculous amount of high end WR's in the 2 deep that could start anywhere else.

I’m glad we have the two options at DL (Suggs and Thompson)

But man it’s hard seeing Travis Shaw, Sydir Mitchell, Lee Hunter and Damon Payne without a UT offer :/
Did you feel the same about Omar Norman Lott, because a lot of teams didn’t go after him out of the portal.

I’m starting to feel like DL are binary. Either “can be coached by Garner” or….the other. And I don’t think there’s much in between. I know some questions were asked about Heards effort and was that why he left LSU. Nice to know it’s not an issue with Suggs.

Top 5 doesn’t mean **** anymore if those kids don’t all stay together for more than a year or two.

A good majority of them leave. If we stay around the 8-12 range and keep those kids, those classes start to creep up and look better and better.

There’s a reason why we are at the bottom of the conference when it comes to kids leaving. Kids want to stay here. We fill holes with the portal.

So if you look at it like I do, then our classes realistically are in the top 5ish range because we actually keep more kids than others do.

The only one that has less is UGA.
You look at it the right way. Most don’t.

It's incredible people haven't looked around at the SEC and seen how often these highly ranked recruiting classes are fools gold for fans. It's cheaper to address a roster that way. A room full of guys who haven't proven anything yet is cheaper than one filled with proven studs. So they can land the classes, but can't keep the studs.

But will we win championships? If not, then Heupel is just our Mark Richt. Winning titles is and always should be the goal. And Heupel has the hunger. His goal is to win titles.

Wouldn’t expect a championship right away but yes eventually he’ll win it all. There’s never been more parity in cfb. I like his chances. Also there’s only 2 active HCs with championships. Not an easy thing to do.

It’s funny that so many people talk about Mark Richt like he was a bad coach. He won two SEC championships at Georgia. He was very successful. And he left Smart a loaded roster to set up his run of success. Heupel could do a lot worse than be another Mark Richt, especially if he set up another coach for Kirby type success.

Also Kirby didn’t win a NC until Y6. Really good years with no title. People called him another Richt like it was a bad thing.

Meanwhile Heup took over sh*tshow. And look where we are.

I keep seeing posts from this NFL Rookie Watch account getting shared but nothing points to it being a credible account. Of all the things I've seen posted by that account over the last year, all signs point to it being some random guy making up total BS trying to go viral. I guess it worked.

Funny thing about Richt…he was one loss to Florida in 2002 from playing for a NC. If he wins that, he has basically the same record as Fulmer: 2 SEC titles and 1 NC in 15 years. Both with a 74% winning pct. And Fulmer inherited the better situation from Majors.

Mark Richt is the poster child for a coach who can win 10 games a year and experience some success but could never make that leap into being a truly elite team. I wouldn't use that comparison to describe Josh Heupel at all. If for no other reason there hasn't been time enough yet for him to prove himself.
