I'm beginning to entertain the idea...I’ll say it….*clears throat*
Squirrel, we love ya, but we want Branch.
Examples? For instance, when I look at Ohio State, their starters are very good to elite. After their top 3 guys, though, the next two are Brandon Innis(12 catches for 151yards/1 TD) and Bryson Rodgers(5 catches for 46 yards/0TD) and both were 4* recruits. For comparison, our 4-6 WRs were Chris Brazzell(28 catches for 325/2 Td), Chas Nimrod(10 catches for 121 yards/0TD), and Mike Matthews(7 catches for 90 yards/2 TD). There's no doubt their top guys are more productive than ours but I'm not seeing where their next group of guys would be starters for us, much less "anywhere else" in the country.wonder how Oregon, OHST, TX, Bama (until this year) and others are able to do it ? They all have ridiculous amount of high end WR's in the 2 deep that could start anywhere else.
Did you just watch one Tennessee game from this season on YouTube and figure you knew everything there is to know about Tennessee's offense from that small sample? Because you can't have watched Josh Heupel's entire tenure here and still think this. It just doesn't make any logical sense. We dont go after those talents in the portal
Even if we did, we dont use the WRs well enough for a guy like this.
I was about to post that Richt was Fulmer without the national championship.Funny thing about Richt…he was one loss to Florida in 2002 from playing for a NC. If he wins that, he has basically the same record as Fulmer: 2 SEC titles and 1 NC in 15 years. Both with a 74% winning pct. And Fulmer inherited the better situation from Majors.
We did get Donte Thornton and Chris Brazzell in the last two years, though. Thornton has 25 catches for 647 yards and 6 TDs this season, while Branch has 47 catches for 503 yards and 1 TD. Brazzell has 28 catches for 325 and 2 TDs. While Branch has been targeted more, both Thornton and Brazzell have a higher YPC and more TDs. While Branch may be good, there is nothing to support the statement "we don't go after those talents in the portal" and "even if we did, we don't use the WRs well enough for a guy like this".Did we get him in the portal? No. We did not.
