Another glaring issue for us was and is depth. We don't have it......... Hopefully the slow play is due to expected staff turnover and to let guys get the players they think they need ...... But it doesn't seem likely at this point.

I understand not acting in a brash manner and letting emotion dictate staffing decisions but there are some glaring deficiencies with this staff that look like they need to be addressed.

2024 class is ranked 11th overall on 247
2024 class was ranked 13th overall on 247
2023 class was ranked 11th overall on 247

That's the three best classes in the Heupel era...so maybe they feel good about the youth movement and wanna see how those guys play? The 2025 class they just got 20+ of them as early enrollees and have already seen them in practice.

The biggest thing is we've been getting 1 or 2 5 stars. While the top teams have been landing 2+ per class for the last decade.

I do think at some point Heupel & staff have to just trust the talent over the experience. WR room is one area that's frustrating having 4 top 100 national players at the WR position and none of them getting on the field is frustrating. (Seldon 77th, Leacock 87th, Matthews 40th, Staley 78th) Especially when anyone with eyes is seeing that the guys out there just aren't getting open.

We’re acting this way because we aren’t attacking the portal after getting clobbered.

There needs to be upgrades everywhere on the field then VQ saying “not much” in regards to the portal, I can see why some of us are mad.

We indeed did get clobbered. Also won 10 games and made the playoffs. Gonna have a new cast of characters in some spots next year and I’m excited to see how it shakes out.

I wouldn’t mind an explosive playmaker from the portal tho 😁

I’m happy with the OL recruiting in the portal.

Hopefully the coaches are playing chess and have someone lined up. The “they’ve inquired about some people” for some reason just irritates me to no end

Literally take anything AP says nowadays with a grade of slaw. So weird how walled off they keep Matt Ray.

It’s because Ohio State looked like they were playing a completely different sport than us. You just can’t lose like that. Ya can’t. Not at that stage.

The gap is enormous And it doesn’t look like we are doing anything to close that gap. I think folks would feel better if we were being aggressive in the portal. And playing guys like Mike Matthews. And if the OL weren’t heinous. And…

It’s been 48 hours and it’s a dead period…there’s not much we can do right now until it opens back up

I wouldn’t overreact to a single game.

I also don’t care if fans “feel good”. Fans are way too emotional. If we based everything off of feels then we would go through multiple HCs per season in every sport.

Yeah, I think Spillman is gonna be in the mix. But feel like he's more likely to take over in the role Carter/Telander play

Pili was our cover specialist, he went down and Perry/Smith just weren't good enough to feel in so we tried to make do with Carter/Telander both out there.

I think BOTH the guys Inge has coming in (Since Gass might move to EDGE) are potentially better cover specialist than Spillman/Carter/Telander

Agree. Probably less negativity if we moved the ball better and looked a little faster on D. People would accept losing say 30-17 under those conditions. OSU just a better team right now.

And many of those players have already transferred out....

And that's the rub.

We don't know what we have in those young players, we don't appear to be developing enough of them, especially at some specific positions.

If those guys aren't good enough you bring in guys that are....... But we seem to be willing to let some of them walk instead of developing........ And replace them with who exactly? Why now, go with youth? When you would have been better served to do that this past year and have these young receivers develop along with your young QB?

It may not have come together for them this season but you'd be optimistic going into next year. At this point it kind of looks like we'll be starting over next year with question marks all over the roster.

You're right, it wasn't a bad season...... We met expectations....

The issue however is the fans started to buy into this team actually belonging, soon being able to compete with the establishment for national championships. .......

And then we get curb stomped, embarrassed in the primetime slot on national TV. Hard to feel good about what happened Saturday.

Also raises some nagging concerns and causes you to wonder how much that loss hinders the development of this team. It's a significant concern we'd be foolish to dismiss.

Yeah just personally I’m not into borrowing problems. Rather sit back and see how things go moving forward

Do you believe our NIL budget is enough to put together a roaster to compete with the Elite?
They spent millions less this year than Ohio State. Tennessee also spent less than Ole Miss. So it not just about spending more it's how you spend it. How you manage it, the decisions you make. How you use guys etc? Three weeks ago Ohio State was the most over paid team in the country because of what they did against Michigan.
