A lot of these players will be able to enter portal well into Jan, there is a school that has a really late drop add date compared to almost everyone else…hmm who could that be? #GBO

Nico went to UCLA game against Oregon. Obviously he went home for the bye week and Madden was committed to UCLA at the time.

he went to Miami during the second bye week but not to UM just to Miami the city! Who wouldn’t during cold months and a week off. Most players leave town during bye weeks. He was not visiting schools, please don’t believe anything you see on vol Facebook.
I agree, but I can also think of a helluva lot better warm weather places to go than Miami, especially if his rumored NIL package is what it is.

The WR room looks to be going through a position group overhaul similar to DBs last year. I remember a lot of concerned fans last year this time when most of the experienced DBs were leaving.

The staff could have kept any of the disgruntled WRs by offering more NIL money if they wanted to keep them. They have decided to go with Matthews + Staley + Brazzel + Boo +incoming freshmen. I'm sure they will also add a couple experienced WRs from the portal in January. Lets hope they find another McCoy!

Tennessee true freshman wide receiver

Mike Matthews announced his plans to enter the transfer portal late Saturday night. But sources tell On on Sunday afternoon that negotiations are still ongoing on a new NIL contract that would see him return to Knoxville. As of Sunday afternoon, he's yet to officially enter the portal.

It's a similar situation to Tennessee safety Boo Carter from last week.

Carter had made known his plans to the Tennessee coaching about entering the portal, but the Volunteers reached a new agreement that avoided seeing the safety hit the portal.

The issue is I don’t know how much money we have or what we plan to allocate it to. There’s a chance we are out. Or there’s a chance they plan to go heavy in the portal.

There’s really no telling what our financial situation is but it doesn’t seem to be at an Oregon, OSU level

Yet he did play. People are acting like he had 5 snaps for the season. He was also injured, IIRC, and missed time.

There’s only a finite number of reps—are we taking those away from upperclassmen? Is MM going to hold this program hostage because he didn’t get the reps he think he should get?

He’s going to be the clear WR1 next year. If that’s not good enough for him, he can hit the road—there’s plenty of WR in the portal.
The problem with this is that when he did play, which wasn't very much given his pedigree and supposed talent, he was put in to block downfield, which he's supposedly good at, so good for him.

Seniority shouldn't matter. Talent should win. Lots of freshman WRs played around the country. But we thought so little of MM from a targets perspective that he was taking a back seat to guys who have bailed for ACC also-rans.

Mike Matthews has a career to look out for and with the transfer portal now existing, he has options to take advantage of better situations. It's been said his displeasure isn't just about money. It's about opportunity and scheme. And I know it's easy to say he'd be WR1 next year, but what has the staff shown him this year for him to believe that and gamble another year of eligibility on it? I understand his concerns and don't necessarily view it as holding Tennessee hostage.

That’s a good list. Thank you

There is just no way Nico took visits to other schools during the season lol. What a bunch of cornball **** that “info” is. Sean Sparks is a sad man.

I’m going to give him the benefit of the doubt. I think it’s very likely Nico spoke to these schools and he misunderstood that as Nico having met with them

Why are you only looking at portal players? I'd be looking at any teams, playoffs or bowl teams and identify players you like. Id go after them hard. Best case you pick up a player you like, worst case you sow dissent and cause your rivals to spend more money on their current rosters. Turn about is fair play.
