Am I crazy or is there just more really damaging misinformation being put out about the program and those that make it run? Just seems like there a lot more BS that strains the fans and the program itself this year. Seems to be intentional and organized misinformation

Love to have Branch still if the staff wants him...but we need outside WRs more for several reasons IMO.

1. Staley and Dodson likely 1and 2 in the slot next year.

2. We need 2 outside WR and only 1 Slot WR on each play from the spread. So we need twice as many good outside receivers as slots. Ideally at least 4 of them. 2 for X, 2 for Y.

3. When we go 12 personnel, we don't have a slot on the field. Yet we have 2WR outside in either formation we run. This means more chances for injuries, and more depth needed for substitutions to keep the WRs fresh all game.

Love to have Branch because he is obviously talented. Hopefully we grab an outside receiver and a slot from the portal. Time will tell...

If that does indeed end up being our WR room, at some point I would LOVE to see Branch, Boo and Staley on the field at the same time.

Possibly. For whatever reason Tennessee has always had an adversarial relationship with what passes for media in Knoxville. Now there are even more insiders, “media”, etc that benefit from the struggles of the program.

I think we will get some good portal news soon. This staff has done an excellent job evaluating and some of the most important players on the last several teams have been from the portal...from WRs now in the NFL to linemen that soon will be like ONLott even McCoy who is gonna be an All American. They always close strong and get players we need most to plug holes in the roster. I am not stressed about it and honestly dont care if we lose Matthews unless its to a rival. If he doesnt wanna be here...I don't want him. We will pay somebody else millions to come catch TDs at UT.

Any way you share what's going on with Pope? Rumors about the room not liking him for some reason. If not, no big deal but I'm just curious on the disconnect. Had high hopes for Pope especially coming off the season Hyatt had.

I can't imagine Matthews would have taken this long to jump into the portal if he didn't like Pope. A dozen clubs would line up to throw money at him.

I think Pope is a young coach who is still learning. I think it’s fair to criticize our WR production, development and the outflow we’ve had. That said, assuming Mike Matthews comes back, I don’t think we lost anyone I actually care about (I’d much rather see Staley, Brazzell or a transfer in the slot next year). So I actually don’t care about the guys leaving “liking him” as much as I do the production and development, which doesn’t get high marks for me this year.

This is too big a role on too big a stage to learn on the fly. Wish Huepel had done on O what he did on D and gone out and found the best, experienced guys he could get like Inge.
