$800K is a number well north of what I’ve heard for Mike (and honestly what I’d recommend we pay).

It certainly seems like some guys didn’t like Pope.

I have not heard Kelsey is gone so I’d be surprised if an agent knows but certainly possible.

I’ve been told people expected Mike back. I would’ve expected it would be resolved by now which isn’t great but he has through Thursday as I understand it.

You can be a boss and know everything about the job but aren’t really in charge unless people will follow you.

If AP knows something, maybe you do. He said earlier there’s a couple of WRs he couldn’t say just yet, know anything about them?

Mentioned a RB and OL in the portal. I’m assuming for these he was just saying we’re going for a RB and OL. I guess I just read it as there’s already some guys were targeting.

If so, any hints?

AP also said the RB will likely be from a smaller school to be a depth piece.

What do you make of the Simmons rumors from USC? Wouldn’t think Heupel would even talk to anyone unless Pope was already informed he wouldn’t return. Unless he’s bringing in Simmons as an OC. There’s no way to add another on the field coach on the offensive side of the ball without someone leaving, right?

I’ve been quite disappointed in Kelsey. The development and management of our receiver room just hasn’t been what we should expect.

Ultimately my bigger criticism is related to Kelsey but beyond him.. it’s that:
- we have resisted injecting new and experienced talent into our offense when given the opportunity and instead just promoted from within
- we have yet to fire a coach when there are 1-2 people that I think bring little to the table
- we haven’t found an off-field position for Chop and haven’t found 2-3 more people like him to augment some staff shortcomings. We rely too much on Vol Club to carry water for recruiting

Heup has evolved quite a bit from when he first got here. He’s a far more impressive coach than he was and I hope we continue to see optimizations.

Seems like the longer this goes without getting settled, the worse it is for us.

I thought the NCAA is allowing more on-field coaches now and I assumed they would find a spot and title for Chop. Maybe I'm wrong on both.

I know 2 WRs outside of Branch were in with. Will be interesting to see who jumps in the portal and how that impacts our thoughts here. If Mike leaves we need 3 WRs.

Well take a more depth RB not a starter.

Well take a starter at OG I’d guess. I don’t think that person is in the portal yet.

Can you give any hints on the WR?

Depth RB? Hmm DJ McKinney would fit that bill. Won freshman of the year in whatever conference Sam Houston is in. Would be a nice depth piece.
