I’d love to have him back, and I say this because I’m frustrated with this re recruitment. At this point, I’ll be relieved either way because of the way it’s dragged on so much. If he sticks, I’ll celebrate along with everyone, but if it keeps going sideways I’ll wish him well because I and most of us don’t know the real backstory here. Either or, we’ll be fine even if we have to read three days of gnashing of the teeth. Thank you and others for keeping us updated. Now like any good old woman and mother would say ‘go enjoy your New Years Eve with your family’, That goes for all you morans in here. This will work out in the end.

He is a great recruiter and basically the Asst Dline Coach at this point right? We definitely need to pay him and keep him happy. Some of the biggest fish we landed on defense specifically mentioned him as a reason they chose us. He builds relationships with these kids.

damn. i'm a nobody and I had a lot of those same feelings. feels good to see someone with a clue put the words into sentences.

Okay, one more thing. Looking at our WR room for the last two years and lack of development, why would any WR come here unless it’s a money thing or they’re told privately that there’s going to be a upgrade in coaching and if so, who MIGHT be in the boat as a coach. Yes, I’m reaching a bit.

Yessir. Is it fair to say he primarily works with Coach Garner and the Dline though? Or does he help Banks, Inge, Martinez etc too? Everything I read or hear about him has pertained primarily to recruiting or the Dline...but I have no idea what he really does from a coaching standpoint except that everyone says how important he is behind the scenes.

Beyond the premise that Pope needs to be replaced is that Heupel needs to hire better, more experienced, more proven, assistant coaches. Heupel is living in an echo chamber which is never a good thing.

Elarbee, Pope, Halzle, and Martinez should be replaced/upgraded.

Just curious who is your upgrade for Martinez? We have probably one of the best young duos at CB. Martinez directly responsible for landing one of them out of the portal.

I was told changes to the staff wouldn’t be made until the new year. Guess that could be as early as tomorrow, but we’ll see.

Personally I just don’t see Heupel even interviewing anyone for a position while there’s still someone on staff there. Possible a third party could’ve reached out to gauge interest though but I still don’t see it.

I'm not King, but Simmons does have somewhat of a Huepel connection. He coached under Mike Leach for awhile.

As someone that ‘manages’ people, you start with the weakest link. You don’t do a clearing house. You still have to keep the good ones from bolting and keep them engaged (chances are they know already). Then you methodically show the ones that aren’t producing at what is expected to the door with help of them finding spots because you don’t want hysteria through the department and fanbase. Before I’d do that, I’d have replacement lined up. At least that’s how I’ve done it, but I’ve not been at the helm of a situation like this.

I feel like we could upgrade at RB over Bishop. And I don't mean to slight Bishop. He's a hard runner, and not a bad back. I just think we could find someone more electric. But I wouldn't do it at the risk of alienating the other backs on the roster. I'm hoping Lewis takes a step forward and takes the RB1 job. I think he can be electric; it's just about achieving his potential.
