When people say word on the street or news from the street, what street are they referring to? Is there some street people meet on to exchange ideas and information?
We hold secret meetings on the corner of Peyton Manning Pass and Phillip Fulmer Way.

The problem isn’t with the CBs. It’s with the safeties. Banks is responsible for them.
We’re not very talented at safety. We’re just not . Yes Will Brooks made some plays, but we’re slow. Same thing at linebacker. Before the Ohio State I thought both positions needed to have their best game. What we got was far from that. They were good enough to get where we got, but when we get to this level of competition, good, experienced coaches like Chip Kelly and Bobby Petrino will spot those weaknesses and exploit them . That’s exactly what happened.

we can do much better than Martinez. Mod was going to be an AA anywhere he went. He’s good. Someone who can recruit better and develop better.

So if a player is good (a former 3* recruit, no less), “ he was going to be an All American no matter what.” But if he isn’t good, that’s the coach’s fault. Couldn’t be that the player just isn’t good.

How convenient for the critics.

Nobody thought McCoy would be this good. Nobody. But admitting that totally destroys your narrative.

Farooq is talented. Let’s see what they do with him.

I’ve been quite disappointed in Kelsey. The development and management of our receiver room just hasn’t been what we should expect.

Ultimately my bigger criticism is related to Kelsey but beyond him.. it’s that:
- we have resisted injecting new and experienced talent into our offense when given the opportunity and instead just promoted from within
- we have yet to fire a coach when there are 1-2 people that I think bring little to the table
- we haven’t found an off-field position for Chop and haven’t found 2-3 more people like him to augment some staff shortcomings. We rely too much on Vol Club to carry water for recruiting

Heup has evolved quite a bit from when he first got here. He’s a far more impressive coach than he was and I hope we continue to see optimizations.
Not a fan of him but Belichick has the best idea I’ve seen, GM position with an entire recruiting staff separate from on field coaches. This frees up time for on field coaches.

Now days its, X, Facebook, TicTok, Instagram, etc. Facebook posts this morning already saying the Branch brothers are Vols. Don't shoot the messenger, I'm just sayin'

Safety is def really bad

i do believe Farooq will be a good one but no clue about the other safety spot.

I disagree. Having a staff dedicated to recruiting is one thing; it’s proven to help with recruiting. But removing the on-field position coaches from recruiting is a bad idea.

I doubt very many players would be enticed to come to a school when they barely know the position coach. The primary recruiters have to be on-field coaches.

That was my thought as well. I figure BibblyB probably sees himself as Sabanesque, and will land recruits based on the efforts of others and his own reputation/recognition as opposed to having built personal relationships. He may be right. Who knows? But I don't see it becoming the norm for other staffs for the reason you state.

I don’t know about having recruiting staff separate from on the field, but sure seems like having a type of GM and more scouts/evaluators is necessary in the new world of college football.

Gibson was pretty dang good also. Martinez is the main reason McCoy ended up here. So the guy that recruited both of those guys and developed both of them. That’s the guy you want to run off?

It’s not really a new concept. That’s been going on for years. Idk that the GM has an actual title of GM but several schools have that kind of system and have for a while. That book Belichek had that fans seem to be thinking is some revolutionary thing, most major programs already have those systems in place and have for several years.

It’s a solid plan. Plus playing corner in the SEC is easy. Just have to follow people around. How hard can it be.
