Yes. Gibson was pretty good but we need 4-5 star CB’s to compete with the best. Our corners got torched by Ohio state and georgia. But if you’re content with pretty dang good. I bet you were happy with Butch.

We saw the type of talent we need when we played the big dogs (Georgia and Ohio state). We need to recruit and develop better. CWM doesn’t recruit top CB’s.

This year was head and shoulders above any year Butch had lol.

What a disgrace to compare Heup to Butch.

Georgia and OSU torched us in the slot and in the flats, with a few busted coverages on the outside when corners were left on islands and watching the flats.

Those games really came down to bad linebackers and safeties, not McCoy and Gibson.

Reading comprehension is a lost art. I see. never compared them. Clearly stated that Gibson being pretty dang good isn’t good enough. And if it is for you then I bet you were happy with Butch.

They were good I’m not disagreeing. Any team that our dline couldn’t disrupt tore or backs apart. WM is not impressive recruiting nor developing. Do you think he is? Do you think he’s the best we could do?

Flats don’t need to be covered by LB in a 4-2. That’s why we got beat. Busted coverages are players not knowing assignments (on coaching to make sure they know). I seen our CB out of position a lot against Osu. We need better athletes and development.

While true,
On the flip side , never seen so many and take it the other way to the extreme.

Is Martinez really doing a “Great “ job, or is he just doing his job.

We brought in McCoy because he was a really good player.
Did Martinez “Make “ him an all American.

Now if he had turned the players we replaced into all Americans then I’d go with great job,
But for now I’d say he’s just doing his job.

You do realize he came to Tennessee to be developed by Martinez.

Can we do better? Possibly. Can also do a lot worse. Really doesn’t matter I figure Martinez has at most next year before he retires; may happen this year.

Sure, that’s what you expect when you recruit HS athletes.

These Portal WR’s are expected to produce
Year 1. They can improve but “big steps “ isn’t the expectation.

If they take big steps, then they disappointed in year 1

If we were to land Branch and keep Matthews, then get someone like Noah Thomas that would be an excellent start to rebuilding our WR core. Great blend of size and speed and jump ball ability between those 3 players
