Smart was at Georgia for 5 or 6 years before he won the SEC. and he walked into a loaded roster, and one of the best recruiting set ups in the nation.
Bama has more talent but was down this year.
Sark at Texas took years to build to this point, with infinite money, and a better set up. and if you think our schedule was easy, don't look at Texas's.
Oregon has been stable for decades, has infinite money.
we are climbing. are we there yet? no. does that mean that we aren't making progress? No. every year our recruiting gets better. the incoming class is the best we have had yet. the last two have been more than 50% on that mythical Blue Chip Ratio standard.
the goal this year was always just to make it to the playoffs, but as soon as we did that it suddenly becomes not good enough because we played the best team in the nation first round.
No one started where we were and has made it as far as we have.
