What "established transfers" are you talking about? Is Branch established with a grand total of 823 yards over 2 years? Micah Hudson is the 19th rated overall portal player with a grand total of 128 yards his freshman year. Is he established?

Stop star gazing at the transfer portal. A bunch of these highly rates guys are still living off their HS recruiting ranking.

You are welcome to list an established, sought after difference maker we have signed out of the portal. We have signed a handful of players out of the portal that have turned out to be pretty good contributions like Brazzell, Thornton, McCoy, and Milton on offense but they weren’t highly sought after comparatively:
McCoy 88th overall
Thornton 65th
Brazzell 84th
Milton 111th

Not star gazing in the least but pretending it isn’t extremely helpful to the teams at the top is naive and no I am not talking about the Branch brothers but we don’t seem to be in the market for any of them. Maybe our strategy will work but it would be nice to know that we have the ability to do so if the opportunity presented itself

This is where facts can't get in the way of the narratives on here. Heard played in 12 games as a true freshman and named to the All SEC Freshman Team. He played 58 snaps against Army, 59 snaps against Auburn, and 54 snaps against Grambling and did not allow a sack. He was very sought after as a transfer.

That top 20 list consisted of London Humphreys, who had 15 receptions at UGA this year. It also had 2 QB's who never played and another DB who went to Purdue. You can't tell me he chose Purdue over other options. Yet another QB went to Michigan State and nearly threw as many INT's as TD's. So, that means not everyone ranked in front of Heard were all world players. People get something in their mind and just push the narrative.

None of them were highly sought after with the exception of Heard which was more about potential than actual results, Cedric Tillman? He was a freshman at Tennessee

If that's what he's appealing, then why would anybody expect him to win? Isn't the rule pretty clearly stated as playing in 4 games (not 5)?

Heard was highly sought after. And now we have to basically lock him in as our starting LT so he doesn't leave. Even if it might benefit the Vols to play him in a different spot.

I'll take 2-3 Jermod McCoys over some bigger name guy looking for the most money who doesnt give a rip about Tennessee. That player might leave after the spring for a better offer anyways. And i dont know if you've noticed but not all these big names are the slam dunks they seem to be when the games actually start.

I also think some of you aren't considering the negative impact adding the wrong player to our locker room could have. Our staff is selective and has priorized culture and stability, which we sorely lacked forever.

I remember not actually being able to recruit. This is not what it looked like.

Because I appreciate posters who bring good information at no charge and hate to see them leave after other posters attack their credibility, as I’ve seen happen before.

Further, I hate sifting through these types of posts that serve no purpose other than personal attacks.

I’m less concerned with how “sought after” a player is than how good he is.

I don’t care if Jermod McCoy was the 18th ranked portal CB or whatever. He’s an All American. So it looks like our staff evaluated him well and got a less “sought after” player for a lower price and he turned out to be elite.

Norman-Lott did the same thing. So did McCallan Castles.

Some of y’all are so caught up with rankings and how sought after a player is, that you lose sight of the point…getting good players. This staff has done that.

This isn't a pay site, so stop acting so entitled to information. I understand the criticism of VQ and 247, but posters coming in here offering updates and insights are doing so because they want to share with other Vols fans. There's no need to be pushy or aggressively question the wording of these generally brief posts. You know as well as I do that transfer portal recruiting changes with the blink of an eye, and there are reasons not disclose every single detail of every pursuit. Don't be another reason to not share interesting info.

The people that I have spoken to have indicated to me that they expect us to add at least one and likely two additional WRs. Their personal views (which they have relayed to me) is that one is a top notch type talent and another is more of a depth piece.
