Maybe we know why Squirrel decided to play through injuries now.this is strange because I distinctly recall squirrel playing with one working shoulder for much of the season.
So in your opinion do you think he and Heupel have had a meeting where he was told this in no uncertain terms?I’m on the record as the least likely to fire a coach guy, but having met Pope and watched him with players, I’m a non-believer. He’s a taskmaster without imparting the vision that goes with it. It’s fine to be a detail coach, but players need to know why. They also don’t trust him on the criteria he gives for earning time etc. He made enemies out of Squirrel and MM for punishing them for injury time. It took a lot of peace making to keep MM. I thought it was likely that he’d go at the end of last season, but Heupel is pretty strong in the belief that we honor contracts until they’re over unless there is a big reason. It’s a talented room, and they’ve settled on a spec for each position. If he doesn’t come through this year, that’ll be it.
Yeah I don't like that at all. Clearly Squirrel was not a guy that handled that injury very well.. I mean how many would at his size.Maybe we know why Squirrel decided to play through injuries now.
It was either play or sit.
I guess Pope hates injuries unless it’s a broken bone. Probably has the “rub some dirt on it” mentality.

But then, he wasn't playing that well, so why not bench him?
Oh wait, Chas Nimrod was worse lol
Still dislike the play through injury thing at this level. I remember when I played I tried to play through a sprained foot (Plantar fasciitis maybe?) I could not run, or when I would sprint I would just re tear it and I sucked and got no playing time. Coaches just thought I was a puss. Next year happened again and said "screw this I'm healing" coaches yet again thought I was just bsing them. I healed, then I kicked ass and started the rest of the year. Never forgot that!
Squirrel would have been much better use to us if he wasn't a walking MASH unit all year. Ridiculous for Pope and the staff to keep trotting out banged up average players.
@Stoerner Fumbles Great insight, thanks. Are you saying if MM doesn’t come through this year or if Pope doesn’t?I’m on the record as the least likely to fire a coach guy, but having met Pope and watched him with players, I’m a non-believer. Why in the world is he still here?! If he is making players play with significant injuries, like squirrels injury, then that’s ridiculous! Squirrel couldn’t raise his right arm above his head and is why he always had to jump to catch the ball.I don’t know that. I know the receivers met with Heupel mid season.
