'25 Portal Thread

Another reason the staff may not grab another WR from the portal.. They may plan on running a lot more 21 (two TE sets) next year. We should have a pretty good TE room also with the incoming freshmen.
The reason they’re not going after another guy in the portal is because if they bring in a guy that takes away a starting position the player that lost their starting job will probably leave. Unless Squirrel is willing to sacrifice his starting position for the betterment of the team for a player like Singleton or Concepcion. In that case they’re likely to lose Staley though. Combine that with the obvious fact that someone isn’t likely going to transfer to be a backup

Squirrel is tough he has played and contributed the entire time he has been hurt. And his injury isn’t some major injury. He just needs rest. GBO
Not sure if it’s true or not, but he’s apparently having to take the needle before games to play. If that’s true he’s likely out for spring ball. Which could actually help by giving Staley more reps

He could fix that by hitting the jugs machine in the offseason, like Hyatt did.
I'm not a huge believer in that. Once you reach that age, you either have developed the skill to catch the ball or not. You can make small incremental improvement, but not huge improvement. Nimrod's hands are horrible.

Jalin Hyatt is proof of the contrary. His hands were as bad if not worse than Nimrod's. He couldn't catch an STD in Ybor City on a Saturday night during the 2021 season. He won the Biletnikoff the following year.

That wouldn't surprise me at all. I think he's playing through a significant shoulder injury.

How do you know it’s hands issue and not a focus/mental issue?
When the ball repeatedly hits him in the hands and then falls to the ground, I don't care why. I care about the results. You catch the pass or you don't. He proved he can't be relied upon. That's why he fell down the depth chart.

How did you know?
I just looked at our WR room, my guy. Same thing the coaches are doing. Same thing the 3 guys who transferred out did. We've got all the top end talent we need at the position returning next year. And we've got some young studs who should be more in the mix next year too. It wouldn't make sense to bring anyone else into a room where 3 guys just transferred because they didn't think they'd get enough run. Maybe one guy to bolster depth, but not a guy who is transferring to start somewhere. Most of the WRs in the portal, that is the case for.

Insane if we don’t, how can we lose 5 bodies at a position and only replace with 3? We were already thin there
You have to develop what we have/what we have arriving to campus. This is going to be a golden opportunity to finally get some young guys some run and develop them. We have shot ourselves in the foot with the development of our Wide Receivers by bringing in transfers and it just showed by having 3 guys leave.

1000000000% need a WR.

If someone gets hurt, we are screwed unless one of the freshman is just an absolute stud, but I guess we won’t know that till spring practice.

Wonder if WR will be one of those we really wait on till like spring
