Possible DC hire?

Literally anyone that will stop playing soft zone and play some man coverage. Hell, Banks can stay if he every figures that out for all I care.
Wow.....do you seriously know anything about college or NFL football? Do you really think Banks is the only DC using soft zone coverage? Do you know how often soft zone is used over man? Watch a few more games.

I guess I'm in the minority here, but I think that we are short on developed talent on the D side of the ball at this time and that has more to do with it than coaching.

I don't think we are that far short of DB talent compared to UF and Mizzu's receivers and QB.

I don't know man, I don't like what I see at times, but the defense has gotten better each year, that's statistics, not my eyeball. The overall defense is better than you would think. Until Missouri the run defense was in the elite category.OC's exploit our lack of our gap discipline.
The Defense has definitely gotten better in area's. Our talent across the DL is solid. The MO game they played with terrible gap discipline though. They had decent push early on yet got too deep leaving open holes. On top of that #44 Herring had a pretty bad day overall. You have to give MO credit though as they exploited our aggressiveness going right at him almost every big play.

Here is the problem with Willie Martinez. He is far from the best coach, but he is our second best recruiter behind Glenn Elarbee. As far as Tim Banks goes, he has our defense improving. We were ranked 90th in year one and 37th last year. Before the Mizzou debacle we were in the top 20, and now we are 30. Jerry Jones once said "It's not about the x's and the o's, it's all about the Jimmies and the Joe's." We still don't have that yet. We currently have the 13th best recruiting class, 9 players on D included. Last year we were 10th with many great players on D that haven't cracked the rotation yet. It sucks but the reality is that this is going to take time. Pruitt left the pantry empty.

Oh, they ate Tennesse's defense and wanted more. The coaches have to figure out how to keep the machine oiled and moving every game. That's the next step IMO. Flashes and pitfalls have to convert to consistent play and discipline.

The problem we have the most is the defense we saw in the first half of the bama game, why can’t we always play like that

Yup. Sadly, I have but one like to give.

As far as Saturday goes IMO…we made so many intangible errors that won’t show up on the stat sheet. Bad Decisions, tackling angles, lack of aggressiveness, hesitancy, route running, missing simple blocks, missing simple tackles(that will be on stat sheet) looking overall shell shocked like a boxer and not wanting to get off the mat. This game can not simply be laid at the feet of JM, OL, DL, Secondary etc. IMO it was an entire team loss (including special teams).

Since Hadden went down we’ve played a whole lot more zone. I get it, but we’re going to have switch it up this weekend. Just bring 5-6 guys almost every down.
Why not do that?....We can't defend the pass either way. At least make it interesting for us fans to see the QB to at least run around to complete a wide open pass!

Edit...It blows my mind to see teams...good or bad ones have receivers so wide open all the time. It should be impossible.

The defense looked pretty dang good earlier this year before the secondary got decimated by injury. I don't think anyone is going anywhere.

IF you see anyone suggesting “fire Heupel”…that’s instant, immediate, cataclysmic disrespect for their football knowledge.🙄
Did you not read some of the threads this weekend that says he is at his ceiling and it always shows with him in year 3?

Possibly the worst coached game that CJH has had yet. My thoughts are that UT went into the game expecting Brady Cook to torch them. So they brought the heat every single down. Unfortunately with that aggressive game plan the RB/QB runs ate us alive. They got exactly what they wanted a slow LB left in the open field. I just don't understand why there were no adjustments at half.

We are super thin at LB, we don't have anybody left.

Nothing is going to matter until the holding calls are properly called by the referees. Calls for and against us are diametrically opposed

I actually keep my pantry dry, as that is the preferred state.

With majority of the fan base wanting Banks/Martinez out next year, who would y'all suppose we should go after? I have seen commenters on facebook say Alex Grinch... but I have also seen the same ones say fire Heupel and start the rebuild process over.
Alex grinch ? Hahah seriously ? Usc defense is worse than ours

my understanding is Martinez is the only assist who does not have a contract extension right now
