Martinez a good recruiter. What 4-5 star kids have he brought in. I think that is delusional. Banks is way over his head and Martinez hasn’t shown me he can coach at all. Sorry. Those two need to go.Firing Banks would be dumb. Martinez is a good recruiter, so probably shouldn't fire him but he needs help. Follow the Saban model and hire an "analyst" that knows how to coach DBs.
We for sure can’t sit back on our heels and just get picked apart. Mix it up, take some chances. Don’t show the same look every play. Playing safe has been proved to not be working. Bring 5-6 play more man. Make the quarterback make a quick decision. Georgia is too good when quarterback has time. We can’t play soft coverage. GBOSince Hadden went down we’ve played a whole lot more zone. I get it, but we’re going to have switch it up this weekend. Just bring 5-6 guys almost every down.
I heard on a talk show that in Heupel’s time as HC at UCF and now UT, he has yet to fire any assistant coach. I got a feeling he’s going to ride with Banks and Martinez come Hell or high water.

I’ve got no objection to seeing what Banks can do next year, but I can’t be convinced there’s not a better DB coach than Martinez out there somewhere. He's gonna ride with them because they've done what was asked of them. Improve the defense and help win games for a program that hasn't had a 10 win season in 15 years.
Numbers don’t lie…Only secondary coach Willie Martinez is not under contract beyond the 2023 season, but he received a $75,000 raise. Martinez has been a trusted assistant of Heupel's for five seasons at Central Florida and UT. But the Vols ranked No. 127 in pass defense among 131 FBS teams last season.
Every Tennessee football assistant coach has a contract past 2023 − except one
With majority of the fan base wanting Banks/Martinez out next year, who would y'all suppose we should go after? I have seen commenters on facebook say Alex Grinch... but I have also seen the same ones say fire Heupel and start the rebuild process over.

I don't know if some of these fools even understand what that means or the significance of it.our defense has given up less than 30 points in every game this year. yes, there are problems on defense and a lot of it comes down to needing better athletes on the back in (i think help is on the way). lack of offense in key moments is glaring issue.
