Possible DC hire?

I'm more frustrated with DBs not turning and finding the ball. I think Banks is still hamstrung at times with what he calls in regards to coverages and blitzes so I'm willing to give him a little more time.

Something to consider: We chased after the hot DC name under Butch after the 2015 season and while that was far from the only issue we had, it certainly did not have the intended outcome.

True, and maybe we should try getting elite defensive talent before we fire our dc.

It's funny that you have a bead on what the majority of our fan base wants---you should ask the majority for their lottery ticket numbers

The defense saved two TD's in the red zone early, but you can only do that so many times in a game. The 3rd down performance is what killed them, and Banks NEVER set a spy on the QB that I could tell. You know he may run on 3rd down.

Not going to stop. I will add PI into the conversation as well. You apparently haven’t watched the games I’ve watched. It’s actually a thing this year.

I also never witnessed a ref kick a spotted ball either.

My theory is that there is a contingent that felt we got off easy with the Pruitt/NCAA stuff. And order came down to hammer us on the field since we didn’t get hammered by the NCAA.

Statistically the results are different if you look at years 1, 2 & 3 & there has been consistent improvement… so yes, I am happy with consistent improvement.

Here is the problem with Willie Martinez. He is far from the best coach, but he is our second best recruiter behind Glenn Elarbee. As far as Tim Banks goes, he has our defense improving. We were ranked 90th in year one and 37th last year. Before the Mizzou debacle we were in the top 20, and now we are 30. Jerry Jones once said "It's not about the x's and the o's, it's all about the Jimmies and the Joe's." We still don't have that yet. We currently have the 13th best recruiting class, 9 players on D included. Last year we were 10th with many great players on D that haven't cracked the rotation yet. Would agree with what you posted but we didn't stop the run nor did we stop the pass on defense. Intensity level was not good. Those are problems. On offense we are limited but when you come out right after half and run a damn option to short side of field. That is a problem. Some things need to be looked at and I know willie can recruit but our secondary has not improved period. Now I have read and heard that he or Banks being DC are hell bent on playing these five seniors by damn - how bout putting in some of the younger and faster guys and give them a shot. Our angles and tackling were terrible Saturday. I dont coach and don't claim to but some changes need to be made.
