Potential Coaching Staff Members (list)

Lance Thompson would be a great pick up IMO. Has there been any solid info on whether or not CLK is actually after him or are these just rumors?

There has been all the discussion about the need of a Special Teams Coach and I totally agree. Don't laugh, but aren't there camps like Pete Newells' Big Man Camp in BB for Kickers and Punters. If there are, then couldn't one of our staff members, ie David Reaves, attend one along with our players and learn the teaching techniques also.

Lane could take on the QB's, like he wasn't going to be watching Reaves closely anyway with QB's. The other aspects of the special teams could be a one time brain session of all the experience on the staff and then implemented by Reaves.

This would make it much easier for CLK to fill out his staff and still have ST's covered.

Gran will coach ST's. I hear he had concerns regarding the type of offense we would run and the style of play from the running backs. I hear he and Chaney have discussed that. I think he will be joining the staff soon. Drayton will be moved to WR's. Gran is too valuable as a RB coach to let Drayton keep them. I don't think Gonzo is in play.

I still dont understand these guesses about Drayton. He is a RB coach. Left UF to come to UT because of the RB position. I dont see him moving to WR. I dont think Kiffin would give him that position. And futhermore, I think Drayton would leave for another job if he is not given the ability to recruit the RB position.

I agree Gran has exp a long time ago coaching WRs not Drayton but I do not think this is how it goes down either. I think we get a known WR coach commodity. But who knows.

This is my reasoning:

1-Why would Gran and Chaney be discussing offensive philosophy and blocking schemes if he was not going to coach RB's.
2-Drayton is not a proven RB's coach. He was brought to UT because of his recruiting prowess.
3-Apparently Drayton is staying on board because he has been on the recruiting trail with CLK recently.
4-Gran can coach ST's. Brian Schneider was being considered for LB/ST but he chose to remain in the pros.
5-I know everyone wants Gonzales on staff but there are no indications he will leave Florida.

Maybe I missed it somewhere through all the threads but it is being reported that Janzen Jackson's dad was hired here. Anyone else heard anything about this?

Heard he was interviewing this week. Apparently Coach O reccommended him. I think his son goes to LSU.

I'm completely baffled by this. His dad said if he was hired his son wouldn't come with him... maybe AA coaches are a high commodity right now or something but I don't see how this would be a logical hire. I looked at the guys resume and it wasn't that impressive.

He did produce a 5* CB recruit. Guess he knows a little something. I don;t think his son comes here either way. He is big on LSU.

Maybe we hire a promising DB coach for a "normal" salary and use the money to get another high profile guy on the offensive side?

Is there any chance he would be a GA? Would be a chance to learn under Monte for a couple years and that looks good on your resume?

Who knows but I don't see him getting DB job even if his son is 5*'s. At least I hope not.

Sounds like to me GA would be the best fit for him...he just doesn't have the track record for DB's at a major FBS SEC school.

Did I miss something ab gran? Did CLK offer him a job??

rumor floating around that Hugh Freeze has been offerred a job on the offensive side of the staff

Where is that rumor from? I'd love Freeze. Great recruiter and very solid coach. Can do WRs or TEs. Can never go wrong with utility coaches like that.
