Potential Coaching Staff Members (list)

Wilks is a LB for the time being and he is pretty highly regarded as a WRs coach. Problem is that he has always coached WRs in a spread.

Shows how out of touch I am with the team! Wasn't Wilks such a highly recruited WR though? I thought it was strange he didn't get on the field as a WR this year considering the group we had, guess it's because he's a LB!

Sorry to derail the thread!

I heard a rumor today that Henry Ellard is a possible candidate for WR's coach. Anyone else hear anything about this guy?? HV, VKB, REX.....any body????

Ellard is well thought of as the receivers coach of the Rams. He doesn't have much college experience however. I think he was a GA with Fresno St. Where did you see this, it is an interesting name?

I heard it from a family friend who is a huge Rams fan and follows the team very closely. I didn't ask him where he heard it from so I am not putting much stock into it. Just passing along any info I hear.

Tennessee's coaching contingent at the AFCA convention in Nashville was among the toughest to spot. Why? Because sources have confirmed to us that Monte Kiffin, Ed Orgeron and Jim Chaney conducted numerous in-depth interviews with candidates and remained largely holed up in their rooms. Some of the Vols' coaches got a late start back from the convention on Tuesday because some interviews apparently stretched longer than planned. The staff is working to address its glaring lack of minority coaches as they piece together the final positions of Kiffin's inaugural staff.

Obviously, the news regarding UT football continues to center on the completion of the football staff. While it seems far-fetched, Lane Kiffin & Co. apparently still are entertaining thoughts -- and working feverishly towards-- of perhaps having their staff filled out by week's end.

It seems the addition of former Auburn tailbacks coach Eddie Gran is imminent. Gran not only is very highly regarded for his work with running backs but also for his special teams work, a factor that's believed to be a consistent trait in Gran's favor during the process. Further, Gran has long been a powerful recruiter in South Florida. He has interviewed at least three times with the Vols and met all the key figures -- Lane Kiffin, Ed Orgeron, Jim Chaney and Monte Kiffin.

A poster from VQ spotted Coach O dining at a local restaurant with an AA New Mexico assistant coach (could tell because the coach wore a New Mexico jacket). Not really sure who it is specifically, but could possibly be in town for an interview.

That's freaking awesome.

Other than the obvious ones, Gran's hire would be my absolute favorite in this staff. I've been excited about his possible addition to this group ever since his name popped up as a candidate.

plus one, what took so long?

From what I understand Gran has been ready for a while but he was only waiting on who the OC was going to be for SURE and he wanted to sit down with the OC before signing on. The thing about that is, Chaney has been around for what, a couple weeks? Rumors are now flying that Gonzo might be in but nothing substantial to it that I have seen other than now Gran is on board?

I guess the real question is, is Gonzo on board?
