I disagree. Every quarterback, especially Dobbs, looked good throwing those outs to the tight ends and slants to the receivers with the exception of the one overthrow. They were leading them right where they needed to. On the longer down field throws, they aren't as good at leading the receivers, but go back and watch half of Casey Clausen's down field throws and tell me how great he was at leading the receiver. You'll notice that he was pretty average at those throws, but his Era turned out pretty decent.

He must want the ball to be thrown on an out to the cb near the sideline of to put it in a spot where the wr has to fully extend and gets laid out.

So Peterman is doing everything better than Worley, but look for Worley to get the nod anyway?

Yyyyea that didn't make much sense to me either. Goes on and on about how much Peterman has stepped up this Fall and then says something along the lines of "it’s Worley’s job unless someone takes it"...? Pretty sure you just described someone taking it...

amazing that Worley goes from zip on the ball according to Peyton, coaches, Swain, Ainge and many others just 10 days ago and now has no zip.

Perhaps he had zip when, at the camp, he was throwing basic passes and opened Fall Camp throwing basic passes.

Now that he's being asked to make more reads and throw a wider variety of passes he's overthinking and this is taking away from his natural ability? Just throwing thoughts out there.

This is also what I think plagues Dobbs.

And I was starting to really think after the spring game that we wouldn't suck at the QB position again....Now I am not so sure...

Could be. I think it's more likely he has had some bad throws like all qbs, somebody sees those and can't wait to blog that he hasn't improved.

JONES: I liked the mentality in the classroom today.

JONES: Looking at the video from Saturday night, it was a great learning opportunity. We need to make fundamental improvement this week.

JONES: We must continue to learn and grow every day.

JONES: We're getting closer to naming a starting quarterback. There are no deadlines, though. When it happens, it happens.

JONES: We're working on our maturity, but we're getting better every day

JONES: We're trying to define roles for everyone on our football team. Tahrs been the message to them. Time is of the essence.

ONES: We have four individuals that had their black stripes removed. Hurd, Moseley, Wolf, Barnett.

JONES on Pig Howard: He's been consistent in his approach since the summer. He needs to continue what has gotten him to this point.

JONES: Our players have held him to a high standard and he's responded. It's a tribute to him, the challenge is keeping it up.

JONES: They held him accountable, but a lot of it was himself.

JONES: The way you live your life off the field is how you perform on it.

JONES: You have 48 games to represent the University of Tennessee. You can't waste 1. You have the rest of you life to do whatever you want.

JONES: When we recruit a person, we make a lifetime commitment to them.

JONES on Barnett: It's great to see a younger player win the respect of his peers. He's not game ready yet, but he's working toward it.

JONES: We tell them to control what you can control. Win the day.

JONES: Marlin (Lane) had very valuable reps on Saturday. He continues to be consistent.

JONES: Anything we can do for our student-athletes, I'm all for.

Howard: camp is going great. The past is the past. We are closer as a unit and getting better everyday.

Howard: (on stripes coming off) A lot of the freshmen can help us win, so it's deserving.

Howard: (on stripes coming off) A lot of the freshmen can help us win, so it's deserving.

Howard: Football is a lifestyle. You have to live it, love it, like it and I live it, live it, like it.

Howard: The summer allowed me to mentally and physically prepare. I put extra work in. I learned the mental aspect of the game.

Sutton: Our nutrition and strength staff do a great job preparing our bodies.

Barnett: The older guys really help me out. Being here over the summer really helped. I am just playing hard and knowing my role.

Barnett: @Gmoney_7era is my boy, going back to 6th grade.

Barnett: I have listened to the older guys, Curt, AJ, Jordan tell me what it's like.

Barnett: (on playing in Neyland): It makes my smile.

Barnett on wearing #9: I wore it in high school, I think single-digit numbers look good on defensive linemen.

Tennessee also shifted early into its kickoff coverage, with George Bullock the kicker and some freshmen surging into that unit. Dillon Bates and Elliot Berry both worked with the first-team coverage unit, that also consisted of: Jalen Reeves-Maybin, Michael Williams, Devaun Swafford, Lemond Johnson, A.J. Johnson, LaDarrell McNeil and Justin Coleman.

Todd Kelly Jr. was in orange, going through drills with a brace on his right knee. Kelly moved well in the drills and appeared very fluid.

Take it for what it's worth but redshirt sophomore Nathan Peterman was the first quarterback to go in some drills. The right-hander took a quantum leap forward in his progress last week and has shown some consistency while the other candidates haven't done as much.

Scholarship quarterbacks Justin Worley, Josh Dobbs and Nathan Peterman looked sharper than usual in a passing drill against air. IT saw only one missed connection during several minutes of drill work, that coming when Dobbs overshot a receiver by about a yard on a go route. The QBs struggled mightily most of last week.

Small note from Hyams.

WR Pig Howard continues to show the consistency he lacked last year. In a post-practice interview he said he appreciated the chance to rejoin the team.

Barnett dropped from 280 to 268 while working out with his high school track team in the spring. That allowed him to stay at DE and not move to DT – at least, not yet.

Don’t be surprised if Moseley is as good as a true freshman as CB Cam Sutton a year ago.

amazing that Worley goes from zip on the ball according to Peyton, coaches, Swain, Ainge and many others just 10 days ago and now has no zip.

It could be that he has a very tired arm.

I've heard Coach Jones say they have counts in place to try and insure that doesn't happen, but I still wonder if it's enough. If you watch the video from the practices, even their body language suggests that's what's going on (and not just with Worley). These guys are throwing A LOT.

I also think that is what Peterman was dealing with last year in the Florida game.
