Interesting that Butch plans to name a starter soon. Worley worked with the 1s today but Peterman outplayed him with the 2s.

@Daniel_LewisRTI said 'It's for real. Peterman is really throwing the ball well.'

Peterman would be the story of the year if he became the starter and played well.

That said, they grade more than just passing... and you really can't "outplay" someone who is running with the 1's while running with the 2's. Did you mean he threw it better?

So Peterman is doing everything better than Worley, but look for Worley to get the nod anyway?

Who said that Peterman was doing "everything" better than Worley?

There are many things going on in a practice. Worley may be working on something more advanced than what Peterman is working on.

But the coaches grade far more than passing drills to determine the starting QB. MOST of the things they grade... we never see.

But FTR, if Peterman gets up off the deck, becomes the starter, and has a good year... it will be one of the greatest storylines of the year. And from what I've read and the class he shows in interviews and by reputation... it couldn't possibly happen to a better guy.

These are the kind of match ups I'm hoping for this year.

sjt we do not always agree but you are absolutely right that if Peterman becomes the starter and has a good year it was be a great storyline not just for this year but also in the history of the program.

I agree to that making the throws are not all that they are graded on as well. Even if they can make all the throws if they do not know the reads or get us in a bad play at the LOS it will not matter. With the athletes we should put on the field this fall the QB will only need to make sure we get in the correct set at the LOS, get the ball into the athletes hands and NOT make the mistake that gets us beat.

"Everything" mentioned in the article.

amazing that Worley goes from zip on the ball according to Peyton, coaches, Swain, Ainge and many others just 10 days ago and now has no zip.

Opening up the play book causes the QB to open/speed up his mind. The mental side of sports is huge and that IMHO was Worley's biggest problem last season...not trusting WR's and not trusting himself physically....under/over throw a few passes...then he becomes a basket case...taking out pigeons in the air and turfing up the field worse than a 4X4 in a muddy field. With that being said...this could be his problem if these reports are true.

So, guess starting with 1's sometimes or the 2's sometimes during limited media coverage during camp doesn't hold as much water like a lot of posters always have claimed....just say'n.

He's quietly sneaking up on the starting role, IMHO. But, I suppose CBJ will give Worley the nod. If he struggles early in the season, Peterman will get a chance to redeem himself.

I'm afraid this season is going to mirror the 08 season as far as QB's go

In one-on-one circle/bull ring drills, the following were just a portion of the battles that were partially obscured from viewing:

Marques Pair win
Jakob Johnson loses
Defense win
Joe Henderson beats Alex Ellis
Bynum-Helm: each wins one after CBJ makes them go twice. Bynum appeared to get first win.
Weatherd-King "RUN N THERE!" Stalemate for a bit till King outlasted Weatherd.
Vic Wharton had a win
Coleman Thomas appeared to have a big win at end

-Crowder worked in the 'black hole'
-Barnett and Williams worked with first team
-Berry and Bates continue to look good at LB

John Brice

JONES: You have 48 games to represent the University of Tennessee. You can't waste 1. You have the rest of you life to do whatever you want.

Coach.... "yore"

Swain

Nathan Peterman is one of the hardest working dudes on the team and is one of the last guys to leave the practice field daily.

I love being one of the last guys to leave the practice and seeing Peterman out there working on his reads, accuracy and footwork. Love it!
