Praying Before Game WILL NOT BE STOPPED AT UT (merged)

Now that it's been brought up...what happened to the postgame prayer meeting among players of both teams at midfield? Noticeably absent in the opening home game. It's a FCA thing...has that, too, been banned by Cheek & his Chumps?

i know alot of good people that aint christians but just bein a good person dont get u to heaven and thats what is important

Good point. The Bible also teaches that there will be Christians that will be lost, too. I'm not disagreeing with your post, just adding to it. Punching your attendance record on Sundays and Wednesdays, praying, loving others, being baptized, etc., is not going to get any of us to Heaven. It all goes hand in hand, along with the grace of God.

It seems to work both ways. If what Christians believe is true, a lot of good people are going to end up in hell, but a lot of crappy people are going to end up in heaven. How can you view God as "just" when people who live a good moral life, absent of a belief in God, end up in hell, but people who live a terrible life only to find God at the 11th hour (almost always out of the fear of the unknown that death presents) end up in heaven?

So,,your telling us that if you don't get baptized,,,you won't go to some promised land? Are virgin's involved? If so,,,I'll dunk my head.

a christian loves his neighbor, respects those around him, lives for God, and lives a clean life... when God deals with ur heart thats the time to get saved... live it up now and wait for later and u might miss the boat... whats happens if ur name is called when ur layin up in a bar somewhere... as a tree falleth so shall it lie. the way u leave out of here is the way u stand before him in judgement

Because part of what He says is to believe in Him. Why would He let anyone in who didn't believe in Him?

And I'm part of the number who doesn't necessarily believe in the 11th hour repentance. I have no idea what is going to happen to those people. But I do know that He also tells us to live our lives as He would. Kind of hard to live that life on your death bed. But again, only God knows what is truly in all of our hearts.

I enjoy my neighbors, live a clean life, enjoy the true earth, recycle, enjoy my wife as she enjoys me,,,so you are telling me,,just because I don't believe in what you believe in,,,,I don't get no virgins? Damn,,this impending death is really gonna suck. All black and nothing.

So you think anyone who isn't a Christian lives a dirty life, hates their neighbor, has no respect for anyone and lays up in bars all the time? Wow...so judgmental.

Why is it that when gays want to marry, the anti-gay marriage crowd says 'its just a piece of paper. They (the gays) can just be together without getting married.' but when prayer is threatened to be taken out, the same people get up in arms. So I'll ask the same question: why does it need to be public? Can you not do it privately?

Does a prayer before a football game hurt or harm you?

Only GOD knows if they truly repented, but I know GOD uses people that lived as far from GOD as possible, then truly repented is the best witness of what HE can do!

I don't know, maybe for the same reason he's letting murderers, rapists, etc. who ask Jesus for salvation in? Why do these type of people, who almost never find God until their awful life choices have left them in such a horrible place that God is the only place they have left to turn, deserve to get in ahead of someone who lived a good life but never found the evidence to believe in God?

If you truly believe what the Bible says, then don't you have to believe that if these people "repent" then they will spend eternity in heaven?

If you read the article, it says that the 6th federal circuit made a ruling in 1997 banning this sort of activity. The 6th circuit, sadly, is Tennessee's circuit, and that means that this ruling is controlling. Fighting this in court will be a waste of money, regardless of how wrong you think it is.

I don't mind observing a moment of silence, in lieu of someone else telling me how to pray. I know this will be an unpopular opinion, but consider it in reverse. What if a Muslim was praying to Allah on the field, I bet the Christians who feel this sort of thing is ridiculous would have a total different opinion then.

Again I say that I have no problem with the prayer in general, but every time I have been to a UT game I have wondered how long it would go on before it was legally challenged.

So many people pretend that they would turn their back on the University for changing a denominational prayer to a moment of silence (so you can pray in your own way), but I don't see anything wrong with it. They aren't removing God from anywhere, he answer's prayers, you don't have to have someone else pray for you to talk to him (unless you are Catholic, but these weren't Catholic priests praying at UT).

Just my two cents.

If a Muslim was praying - nothing would be said at all. This has way more to do with prayer at a sporting event and this is not the forum to contest it. I respect the fact that there are those who do not believe in God. Okay, if a person does not believe in God then why complain? Another may not believe in getting drunk but he has to sit next one at the game. I would rather listen to a 2 minute prayer than sit beside a guy who is drinking and being obnoxious. I am not going to contact a judge to ban the guys right to drink.

I hear this type of response from Christians a lot. It almost comes across as you're belief in God is just to be on the safe side. Also you make it sound like only Christians can be good people and raise their children right.

It is not to be on the "safe side", because then "you" did not mean it. It is because "you" (non CHRISTIAN) realize the need for GOD and want HIM to guide your life and BE WITH HIM IN HEAVEN. Also there are a lot of good people and even CHRISTIANS have a hard time with children, that is why we need HIM.

Thank you for the ignore button! People like KoachKletus are the people you can't have a conversation with.

That's fine,,,ignore away if the truth hurts. How about this,,do you pray that American soldiers are killed? Apparently one of your own does - it's called the Westboro Baptist Church. Yes, religion is all so fine and innocent until you uncover the insidious motives behind all that they do. Just because some of us don't fall into the mindcrap, or mindtrap that religions worldwide - force upon the weak - put us on ignore. I guess I'll still be waiting for my virgin, my cow, my cloud,,whatever. But one thing is for certain, bugs.

FTR, I have absolutely no problem with the pregame prayer. It's been a part of going to UT games as long as I've gone. If it matters so much to other people, then I can take my hat off and be respectful for 30 seconds.
