Logic would be that Auburn was so far and away #1, that no one has a resume that would deserve to leap frog them considering they lost to a top 10 team. Why would Florida jump 3 spots but the the team they beat not drop any?
May not, but they should. They are the only team out of those that lost to someone outside the top 25.1 - Bama
2 - Auburn
3 - Tennessee
4 - Duke
5 - Florida
Don't think they are going to allow SEC 1-4.....will keep Duke in the top 4 mix.
It will be this. AP swings a lot week to week - just look at what happened to us last week. Auburn getting dominated at home will drop them behind Bama for sure and likely us and UF. UF won’t leapfrog us because of the more recent bludgeoning by us w/o key personnel. Those thinking Aubbie stays at 1 are thinking more along the lines of net ranking as a whole and not AP “hotness.”Bama
Vols
Florida
Auburn
Duke
If the tourney started today do you think they’d give the last 1 seed to Gators or Vols? Interested to hear your take. Both resumes are deserving IMOLogic would be that Auburn was so far and away #1, that no one has a resume that would deserve to leap frog them considering they lost to a top 10 team.
Florida would jump because Duke is in the acc and will be hurt by any loss. They split with Tennessee.
And I expect the voters to overreact to what is arguably the most impressive win on anyone’s resume this year.
Just so everyone knows, I don’t care about the rankings in the slightest. It’s nice to carry the tag of #1, but I care about the league title, sec tourney and ncaa title. Rankings are just fun

Agree with everything, but I’ll have to see the SEC tournament make a difference before I believe it does anymore, other than a team on the outside prior and then winning it.I'd probably give it to Tennessee. They have more quality wins at this point.
But, I believe, beyond what occurs the rest of the year, this where the SEC tourney will matter.
Personnally, I think the committee is going to do everything they can to have Houston/Purdue/Michigan State.....anyone else from outside the SEC get a #1 seed to avoid having one conference having 3, #1 seeds. If it's at all possible to do with a straight face.
I really don't care. One of the things that sucks is that even if Florida were the #1 overall seed (in theory), they still are going to have to travel somewhere as there is no tournament site anywhere close to the state. As I stated earlier though, I don't care about seed, I care about bracket.
I can see that. Has a conference ever held 3/4 #1 seeds?I'd probably give it to Tennessee. They have more quality wins at this point.

You are most likely right.Personnally, I think the committee is going to do everything they can to have Houston/Purdue/Michigan State.....anyone else from outside the SEC get a #1 seed to avoid having one conference having 3, #1 seeds. If it's at all possible to do with a straight face.
Hogwash. The committee will reward the four most deserving teams based on the metrics with the four #1 seeds. There have been three #1 seeds from the same conference before - 2009 and 2019 - so there's already precedent that they will do the right thing versus any sort of bogus conspiracy that some of our fans like to formulate.I'd probably give it to Tennessee. They have more quality wins at this point.
