Premiere League & World Soccer Thread

How were Liverpool able to score a 98’ winner when only five minutes had been added on? I only saw the highlights, so may be missing some context as to what occurred during stoppage time.

LiVARpool strikes again. I didn’t get to watch but saw on Twitter that Newcastles keeper went down for a minute in extra time but not 3 minutes worth.

Got to see Fluminense v Coritiba at the Maracana in Rio recently. Great atmosphere despite half the stadium being closed off. 7 goals scored in the match, so excitement level was high. The message on the board basically says ‘quit shooting fireworks in the stadium or fan attendance will be limited next match’.

Also saw Boca Juniors museum (no home match while I was there) in Buenos Aires

Easy to have this view when Chelsea is “your most hated rival in the PL”. Doesn’t mean its true, it’s just your bias showing.

“Didn’t ever make sense to bring CP on”… yet before Tuchel, CP was doing really well at Chelsea. Project Restart Pulisic was probably the best version of Pulisic to play on the European stage… and guess where that was. The truth is it is very much a system and manager issue.. Pulisic doesn’t fit what Tuchel wants. You can blame Tuchel and his system all you want, it’s fair game and something that Chelsea fans already talk a lot about, but saying Chelsea is dogshit about bringing on young players when there are literally dozens of examples over the years that say otherwise is just a lazy and biased take. But you do you.
They have the best academy in England for sure, and probably the world over the last decade. They've chucked the likes of KDB, Salah, Abraham, Lukaku before they were ready. They've recently started keeping their youth players but now their scouting of youth players has become an out and out mess. They just hoovered up a bunch of continental players that Klopp would have wanted, essentially trying to copy Liverpool. In typical Chelsea fashion, the flame burned red hot then died out quick but with Abramovich you could count on him starting a new project and it coming good eventually, whether it was in Europe or in the Premier League. Christian was just a pawn in that game

Today is the close of the transfer window for PL. Curious to see if any other big moves are made.

Well, @mad4vols, I just don’t know what to think. One man’s trash is another man’s treasure I guess 🤦🏻‍♂️ Lol

All I can hope for at this point is he bags a hat trick against Arsenal at the Emirates 😬

The last 5-6 years the youth signings have been more miss than hit. That’s because Emenalo left. He was the driving force behind signing young players like KDB, Salah, Curtois, etc. When he left in 2017 our scouting when down hill, especially for younger premiere players, but during that time when you bring in excess of talented players and still want to mix in more established players, then players will fall through the cracks. It happens everywhere, at every club. You make a judgement call on where a player is at and where you think they could go and hope you get it right. Jose Mourhino, “the special one”, is responsible for letting those players walk. He pushed for KDB and Salah exits.. and Chelsea fans still haven’t forgiven him.

It’ll be weird for a bit. Honestly, I don’t really expect much. He’s 33 and has limited minutes over the past year and a half. Could be a good thing or a bad thing.

Also, not sure if you heard about it but his home was robbed at gun point a few days back and with Auba and his whole family present. The robber ended up breaking his jaw. Such terrible news but glad everyone was safe for the most part.

That robbery was shocking news. It seems to be happening a lot. If I was in their position I’d have 24/7 security for my family.

They want to stay up.. guess they felt it was necessary and better to start the process of getting a new coach and get him in with enough run of games left. Still think they are going down though.
I think he had some pretty critical comments about his team not being ready.

My badddd. I’m over watching the game, hanging out in the RF game thread and also looking at Chelsea forum site but just saw that photo.
At least you got some last day business, Arsenal was rejected 3 times, gonna come back and bite them.

As you get older, you appreciate that European soccer comes on at 7:30 or 10 AM or so and sometimes a 3pm game, and you know that it lasts about 2 hours.

I think Chelsea and Arsenal actually got rejected by the same guy at one point haha. Y’all need some depth but your starting XI is looking great at least.

Did anyone else’s Fantasy lineup change midweek? I started Reece James even with him out because I had multiple defenders out.. but now when I look Trippier has been moved into the starting defenders and Reece James even though he is playing tomorrow is on the bench. What the heck happened? I don’t want Trippier playing I want James like I had?

This was my bench at the start of the week:

This is my team as it sits now:

I’m surprised Villa didn’t sell Douglas Luiz. He can hardly get playing time at Villa, and only has a year left on his contact. He’ll probably leave for free and go to Arsenal after the season.
