What the hell went on in North London today? Didn’t watch the game and just now seeing tweets like this and some where Richarlisson was also getting in Ramsdales face.

Spurs official statement

We are appalled by the behaviour of a supporter that attempted to attack Arsenal goalkeeper Aaron Ramsdale at the end of today’s match. Violence in any form has no place in football.

The Club has reviewed its CCTV footage to identify the supporter and will be working with the Met Police, Arsenal and Aaron Ramsdale to take the strongest possible action, including an immediate ban from Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Was there something in particular that caused it or just typical heated rivalry?

It showed an immense level of soccer IQ from Rashford. He was so close to violating the offside rule like 4 different ways, yet he walked the razors edge perfectly. I agree with @Outofmyvolcanmind that the next goal probably doesn’t happen without this play.
The play shown with Rashford removed clearly shows two things. 1. Rashford impedes Akanji who would’ve easily beaten slow footed Fernandez to the ball. 2. Ederson was 100% locked in on Rashford.
As for the IQ of Rashford, Bruno was screaming at him to leave it or he would’ve touched it.

Or 3. Kyle Walker also easily has the pace to win a pure foot race with Bruno and get across to just hoof the ball into the stands, which he probably would have done if he weren’t slowing down to track Bruno rather than the ball as he was waiting for Rashford to leave it for him.

I honestly don’t know how any professional official could watch that and say Rashford’s presence had no impact. Three different City players handle that differently if the ball isn’t played to him.

This right here is why I pretty much don't believe Everton's story that a member of the board was assaulted after the Brighton match. Some random kid walks to the front of the stands and kicks Ramsdale, and Spurs are on top of it immediately. Meanwhile, Everton want us to believe that the actual CEO (a woman) was put in a headlock by a supporter in the Director's Box and there's not one scrap of footage from CCTV, cell phone, etc. and also they didn't bother filing a police report, issuing a statement at the time or banning said supporter? That's a pretty serious assault if the story is in fact true. But again, it all sounds flimsy to me.

PL newb watcher here. Sat down and watched the Chelsea match yesterday. I’d like to get into it more, as I enjoyed it and I’m up early. The matches start at 6am here. I am leaning on following Chelsea. I also like that Pulisic plays for them and they aren’t what appears to be a bandwagon club. Give me your thoughts

F Chelsea. 😀

Following them since Pulisic is there is as good a reason as any, but you never know how long he will be there. I chose Tottenham because Kasey Keller played there for a short time.

Don’t be a Spurs fan, they disappoint more than the Vols.

Lol 😂. I’d rather follow a middle of the pack team. Maybe I’ll just follow him if he leaves.

Trying to find a true "middle of the pack" team that will ever pay you off with any joy in the PL is a tricky prospect. Every year the top of the league becomes more and more of a closed shop. Unless you pick Man City, Man U, Arsenal, Chelsea or Liverpool (plus MAYBE also Newcastle now, but honestly, **** Newcastle) you've probably chosen a team that you won't ever see win the league.

I know Leicester won it several years back, but that was at 5000 to 1 odds, which for reference is ten times worse odds than Vanderbilt usually gets preseason to win a NC in football. We won't see something like that again in our lifetimes.

Of course, even the teams outside that group have a shot a winning the FA or League Cup every now and then, but even that's becoming pretty rare as the top teams increasingly horde multiple squads worth of elite players and can rotate in a second team that is as good or better than most other clubs first team.

If you take nothing else from this post, PLEASE, PLEASE DON'T CHOOSE EVERTON. Not sure I'd wish supporting this club in it's current state on my worst enemy.

Thanks for the tips. What’s the beef with Everton based on?

Become a Liverpool supporter, with the way this season is going, no one will accuse you of being bandwagon. ;)

Also, great article as to why this Liverpool side is struggling so much, for those who care:

You seem like a very smart man to be leaning Chelsea, but don’t get attached to Pulisic. He’s probably leaving in the summer. As for the state of Chelsea, we are going through a small rough patch. New ownership, new manager and the roster is going to be reshaped over the next season. We should have started the roster reshaping right after we won the champions league 1 1/2 seasons ago, but we waited and now are paying the price. Won’t be down long though as they are signing a lot of young talent.

Don’t listen to any of these other posters on their opinions, just mine. Stay with Chelsea 😬

I find if you give it a chance though you will get hooked quickly. It’s a great sport to follow. Everyone in here gets along even if our teams are rivals so lots of good talk and reactions to games. Hope to see you around more, and hope to “see” you in blue! Up the Chels!

If you enjoy how the Dodgers and Lakers are ran, then you will enjoy Chelsea. This season they have spent almost as much money on new players as another 1 of the rich Big 6 clubs have in the last 10 transfer windows. They also have signed more new players than they have wins I believe. If you like new and shiny toys, Chelsea is the way to go.

I follow Brighton in the PL. They are a team that you don’t follow because of a certain player. As soon as a player does well, 1 of the big 6 sweep in and grab them. They are fun to watch, but as others have stated, winning the league is usually reserved for a small handful.

Off top of my head, I think we have regular posters here that follow these PL teams:

Arsenal
Chelsea
Man City
Liverpool
Tottenham
Everton
Leicester
Brighton

I may be missing others, apologize in advance.

And lost last week to a team who’s entire starting XI cost less than just Chelsea’s keeper, lol.

In fairness, Chelsea have a ton of injuries right now, and Kepa may be the worst, most overpriced transfer I can ever recall.

Interesting that there are no Manchester United fans here considering they are probably the most popular team in the world. Off the top of my head the only one you missed were the hammers.

Thanks for the info. Maybe they are a good team that will get me hooked on the sport. Never been a soccer fan, although I really would like to get into it.

I take it that there are no salary caps

Nicolas Pépé was worse.
