Preseason top 25.

Why do you just assume we have no shot? People need to stop putting florida up on a pedestal like they are some almighty unbeatable team. The game is in Neyland Stadium. Yes, we have a shot to win. We may not be the favorite, but we have a shot to win whether you like it or not. Gah.. have a little faith man.

VOLS!!

It's not that we have "no shot" at beating Florida, but the odds are extremely bad.

It doesnt make sense? So florida was as good as offensively as you and everyone else thought they would be? really?

First off, you have no idea what I thought, think, or am going to think, chief.

Secondly, they went 13-1 for god's sake, am I supposed to be excited by that sort of futility.

bro, step lightly. I can tell that you haven't seen his SAT score.

It doesnt matter what they record was. They were supposed to be one of the best offenses in cfb history. They werent even close to that. They were supposed to be undefeated national champions and they werent. So the answer is no. They werent as good as they were supposed to be.

i understand what you are trying to say. but, 13-1 is 13-1.

the offense was not supposed to be the strength of the team. the strength was supposed to be the defense and it was. right up until a big red elephant pounded it into submission.

Any idiot claiming their offense was going to be awesome last year was lost. You spouting here is dramatically worse. The strength of that team was the defense, which was awesome. Losing Dunlap probably didn't change the outcome of the SECCG, but it mattered more than anyone wants to say. The offense had no receivers and scat backs. Read a little around here. That commentary was clear well before the season. Skip over the folks whose posting style is similar to yours.

Ok the better team wins every game right? so why then does team a beat team b team b beats team c and team c beats team a. Obviously the better team does not win every game.

The better team on that day is the one that wins. Many factors can lead to the scenario you present, injuries, weather, unforced turnovers, home field advantage, or whatever, but which ever team wins is the better one that day. Your best team on paper approach is only good for wiping your behind with it.

Both sides of the ball were supposed to be among the best units in the nation. 13-1 is 13-1 and florida was definitely a good team. But they were predicted to undefeated and win the national championship. Therefore they werent as good as expected.

those setting the expectations are regularly proven to be idiots. So?

The best overall team for that season does not win every game.

Can you explain it to me then, it must be way over my head.

By the way, that was rhetorical.

i can't say i follow the logic entirely.

what i think he is saying (don't hold me to this), is on the day bama played tennessee, tennessee was the better team.

when you look at the body of work of the season, one would look at that as a fluke.

i think one would believe that if bama played their best game and tennessee played its best game, bama would win comfortably.

that didn't happen. as lou holtz said, the same team doesn't show up every week.

Wrong again. There was widely considered one of the best in the sport. They hasd recievers and multiple scat backs. They had recievers that were supposed to be guaranteed big time players that didnt pan out.
