President Joe Biden - Kamala Harris Administration

True. We started paid maternity leave a couple years ago, luckily it's only been used twice. What I will object to is paid paternity leave.
I believe I took a week off and worked from home the second week. I just think it's critical for women to both bond and simply heal

My mother in law came to visit...... I took no time off......

I took a couple days off but then yeah I was just in the gandmas way.

When I was born my dad had hay down and rain was in the forecast so my dad dropped my mom off at the hospital, went back home and bailed hay, milked and fed then came back to the hospital hours after I had arrived. Things sure have changed.

I'm sure there is a snarky joke in here somewhere, but I can't come up with anything.

Perhaps @McDad can help?

It's just the difference in types of work. Farm work is hard and often times can't be set aside to complete at a later time.

I'm not a farmer but I have a small farm with animals and I work a full time job as does my wife. It's given me a true appreciation for those who do farm for a living/necessity.

In the time we've had this farm and animals I've not taken one vacation and only spent one night away, I feel too bad leaving my wife and daughter with all the work.

There's no question about that but who's going to pay for that time off? Let's give an example. Let's say she's a dental hygienist. She cleans and takes x-rays to the production of $1000/day. If she's gone who takes that loss? The dental practice either has to replace her at great cost or do w/o that income. How many weeks should that employer be forced to pay both her salary and her replacement's?

if there's no question then what's the issue. Like I said earlier it should be

Up to their employer.

I agree with you but many think the gov't should step in
I personally think they should on time because of the societal benefit it provides. I think compensation should be up to the employer. Right now many are forced into taking short term disability

Paid maternity leave should be 100% an employer decision, even offering unpaid leave with the guarantee of your job when you come back should be.

So now government intervention in business is a good thing. Oh what a difference only 12 hours makes 😂
