"Protests"

Actually, he worked out a compromise with the NBA.

He would stand during the playing of the national anthem but could close his eyes and look down.

Yeah, compromise means he does what they tell him and he collects his check... he doesn't stand he doesn't collect a check. There was no compromise about it, he compromised to do what they told him. Gutless. If you have a principle, stick with it. These guys would fold the second the checks stopped coming in.

At least that greedy dude I could understand... these guys... I have no idea what their problem is nor do I really care at this point.

Well that part is clearly not true.

You might be right... I do find it entertaining.... so in that regard, I agree. As far as NFL as a sport.... about 0 out of 10 for me. Now as far as NFL being subsidized by the local, state and federal government... yes, I care very much. Cut the bums from taxpayer funds, and I will be a happy camper.

I'm confused by your position; do you or do you not want the bums cut from taxpayer funds, you're so unclear on this.

This country, and its citizens, are entirely too concerned with symbols. I have never understood it. I get wanting to stand at attention and pay your respects, but the absolute hatred and venom I see from flag worshippers is just insane to me.

I know many veterans and many active duty who I respect dearly, but their sacrifice does not supercede right and wrong. This country has a problem, whether anyone wants to admit it or not, with cops and dead minorities. It sucks, it's s***ty, it's not something most people want to stare at face on, but it's there. It's there and it has been for a long time.

I, for one, am glad that we have so many who are willing to speak out against it. If it actually brings attention to the issue and makes people think about it, then I hope every last damn player in the NFL takes a knee for the rest of the year.

Just recognize it as part of the agenda by the media of dividing the country. The press has told them they will highlight their protest otherwise what would the point be? They are splashing around in the water trying to make the wave as big as possible. Don't make a big deal out of it. Just switch it off silently.

ITOT we have people praising Trump for his giant troll job. Here you are taking the same result, calling it a negative, and blaming the media for it. Trump can't lose!

It blows my mind how both sides fall for the trap. The liberals give him what he wants and give him all the attention in the world. They stupidly put his name in front of everything they do. The conservatives get riled up with patriotism about a game and a two-minute song while Trump continues to be just like any other politician and distract them from the fact all politicians are **** and don't keep their promises.

It's sad really. Instead of both sides saying "You know what, I see your point and you have right. You do you and I'll do me and we both respect our beliefs and rights", both sides have to take a side based on their political viewpoint and start shouting at each other. Man, I'm a military kid. I'm gonna stand because I know my dad appreciates when I do because I do love our soldiers and veterans. I also get that there are people in this country who feel that there are issues that are ignored and want people to see that side and a peaceful protest is something they believe can bring that. My view whether that is successful or not is moot. Just like my view whether they should be doing it or not is moot.

But hey everyone, keep falling for that trap. The media loves it as you bring them ratings. But whatever man. I love football and I'm going to continue to watch football no matter who yells at the players for kneeling or what the players kneel for.

Basically, life is too short to care about what someone does over a flag or a song. Man, go enjoy life, spend time with family and friends, and do the things you love.

Dead minorities are overwhelmingly, and I mean almost 100% overwhelmingly, killed by other minorities. Not by police.

Additionally, non-minorities are also overwhelmingly killed by minorities.

These minorities you speak of have nobody but themselves and bad culture to blame.

So is it true that Mike Tomlin threw Alejandro Villanueva under the bus for breaking with teammates and standing for the Anthem? I haven't found video but did find some quotes and commentary that he was generally pissed that he thought it would be 100% participation.

If Tomlin and Villanueva's teammates had seen/done or experienced some of the things he had. Do you think they would still be kneeling?

To be honest I had never heard of Alejandro Villanueva until yesterday but he has become my favorite player.

Where are you getting your numbers from? What I’m finding is that whites are killed by white people around 80% of the time.

If you want to make it fit that narrative, I’m certain folks will manage:

“Like I said, I was looking for 100 percent participation, we were gonna be respectful of our football team,” Tomlin said.

“Many of them felt like something needed to be done. I asked those guys to discuss it and whatever they discussed that we have 100 percent participation or we do nothing,” Tomlin said after the game. “They discussed it for an appropriate length of time and they couldn’t come to an understanding, so they chose to remove themselves from it. They were not going to be disrespectful in the anthem so they chose not to participate, but at the same time many of them were not going to accept the words of the president.”…

“We thought we were all in attention with the same agreement, obviously,” linebacker James Harrison told the website. “But, I guess we weren’t.”

If that's how you want to spin it, then yes. Otherwise, not really.

Also the majority of his teammates said they had no problem with what he did and said they had his back too.

I'm curious to see what will happen tonight, and whether Jerry will back up his threat to dismiss anybody who doesn't stand.

Unless there is a video or an official release of him saying that, I'll suspend my belief. Then, if true, I'd like to see him put his money where his mouth is.
