Pruitt wouldnt survive a 1-7 record.

We need to give Pruitt until the end of year 3 to make a true evaluation of whether or not we need to move on. Firing him any time before that and good luck trying to lure another coach here. It's like people have short memory and cant remember the hard time we had two years ago. Heck, NC state coach turned us down lol.

The administration needs to show loyalty and give the current staff an honest chance. We have a great staff. One of the top OC and DC (Pruitt) with good resumes in the country. We aren't going to get better. I get 1-7 is ugly, but the staff still is trying to work on turning over the roster and developing the program. Giving this staff a other year, even after a bad record, would do wonders in the next hiring process if it comes to that.
There is a lot of truth in this. continuing to turn over coaches before they have the chance to put their players on the field will not get you a stable good coach. At this point Pruitt is in year two of his turnover. Now next year if there is not a remarkable improvement then he should be fired. One thing is for sure this is the lowest point I have ever seen a UT program. Any way you look at it, it will be 6 to 10 years to have this program back to being ranked in the top 10 where we all expect them to be year in year out.

Bottom line, negative does not give birth to positive, it gives meaning to it. I doubt you'll find too many successful pessimist. Those that hold hope and encouragement and positive reinforcement will succeed more often than not.

If you believe that judging a college football coach by the product that he puts on the field, rather than by your own hopes of improvement is "pessimism", then I would question your understanding of the very concept.

What? He went for it on 4th and 1? That kind of gamble?

If that’s true, that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever heard and it actually fits perfectly with TN Football. 🤦🏽‍♂️

No, more of he has some personal issues with gambling at the casinos.

I really liked him when we were in the middle of the last coaching search, and he seemed to be the best of the realistic candidates after Gundy and Schiano, but we didnt even give him an interview. It makes sense since I think other schools have stated away from him as well. I think Memphis is sweeping some stuff under the rug.

Huh. Didn’t know that.

There we go... “The gump” comment. He’s from Alabama so he’s inferior and intentionally trying sabotage the Vola while simultaneously sabotaging any hopes of a career he might have.

Do you realize how ****ing ignorant you sound?

He may not be ‘the guy’ but he’s going to need more than a season and a half for that to be determined.

Whether you like it or not, he’ll be here the rest of this year and next. So you might as well pull your panties out your crack and get over it.

At some point when you decide to pry your lips off of Pruitt's anus, you will stop pretending he isn't responsible for the way this team started this season.

Nothing more ignorant than a clown who worships a coach who hasn't done a thing to prove he can do the job he was hired to do.

Pruitt is here this year and next even if we go 1-7 to finish. Burn mattresses and kick puppies if you want, but he isn’t getting fired at the end of the year no matter what happens
You have got to stop kidding yourself!!! What donor wants to keep a 1-7 coach?? I sure as hell wouldn’t!!!! If TN suffers 6 straight bad losses Pruitt WILL be gone....

You might need to see 36 games under Pruitt before you feel like he and his staff should have their starting offensive line settled before the first game of the season, and that the defense should be able to line up correctly on every play, but I don't.

The “sabotage” bull is ignorance. He’s just not a good head coach, nothing more.

I only know one “connected” person in Knoxville.
He told me that if we lose the next 5, that the money people would pony up the buyout.
We have never started 1-7. That would be too big an embarrassment for our big donors.
Fulmer would be interim and they would go after a “proven power 5 winner”. (I laughed when he said that but he says you don’t know how angry Georgia State made them).

So, can we win one of these next 5:
At Florida
Georgia (after a bye week)
MSU
At Bama
USC

Pruitt has to just win one of those games and then get 2 more out of UAB, UK, MU, Vandy.
But, one of those two wins must be Vandy.
Our donors could, I’m told, live with 4-8 and 2 SEC wins if we don’t finish last in the East and Pruitt can hang onto Bailey and a decent 25-30 ranked recruiting class.

If we can somehow win tomorrow, the only sure losses left are UGA and Bama.
But, if we get our clocks cleaned by UF, we may just fall apart.

*** Many grains of salt needed, of course. This is just one guy. But, he’s not a liar and he’s a wealthy blue blood and travels in circles that I could never get anywhere.near.

Rich donors often convince themselves they have more power than they actually do. They also think they know what’s best. It’s this simple - if Butch Jones got 4 years, the Pruitt is definitely getting four years. Nobody is going to fire a coach year 2. Nobody would want the job no matter how much money was offered. This would be a disaster for recruiting. This would be a disaster for the football program.

Never said he and the staff were NOT responsible and deserved NO criticism. I’m just not in I hate Pruitt’s guts no matter what club that lays everything at his feet and totally absolves players of their share of responsibility. It takes buy in from both sides.

Maybe understanding this is too hard for you.

Why is the Gump having such a hard time getting “buy in” from his players?

Yep, I guess everything is hopeless and there is no possible way this team can improve and get better throughout the year and after another offseason.

Might as well fire a coach and hire a new one immediately. Good thing there is a line of coaches just waiting for the UT job so they can be on the hot seat gane 1 of the season

You may be right. He may not be. IMO, it’s too early to tell. He walked into total sh!t show and he’s working to try and fix it. I just don’t understand the irrational hatred for the man.

Some on here act like their whole life revolves around Tennessee football.

I would be on board if I saw a viable plan for next year. But right now it looks like Pruitt is sticking with the same QB and as this year. And I expect same results...

He didn’t walk into a **** show, he walked into a better situation than Butch did.

He needs three or four years before anyone can question anything he does. I think I understand your point of view well enough.

And while you are here pissing yourself because someone dares call your hero a "Gump", perhaps you need to understand that failure to have your team ready to play a bottom-feeder Sun Belt team (with a full off-season to prepare for that team) is unacceptable for a coach in his second season at Tennessee.

When you can't acknowledge that, you simply come off as a bootlicker and someone who thinks getting curb-stomped by Atlanta A&T can be brushed off with a Broadway melody.

I'll bet you were singing right along with Coach Pruitt. Let's hope he holds himself more responsible for his job than you ever will.

I agree I have no idea why he has not made the change at QB and some of the other positions as well. The freshmen could not do much worse than what he has put on the field. He is either getting pressured to keep them in or does not have the Cajones to make the swaps. If it had been me after the second loss I would have went all in. But he stayed the course and beat UTC but that does not give me a warm and fuzzy.
