Puffy Combs' son gets UCLA scholarship; People upset about it

why would you do that? You think parents paying for everything is more important than kids learning how to earn their way in the world?

My opinion on Earned scholarships is different than academic anyways. Alotted would me more accurate. To earn kids outwork others and thats not always the case. Its usually someone with god given ability i.e. Da'Rick or Iverson. Folks just more talented where as a kid with marginal ability ran the extra laps or more shots in gym like a Chris Lofton or Jajuan Smith. Now I say alotted schollys because you have to get elite kids too for competitive balance.

Should he not be allowed to get a job because his father could afford to pay for everything he wanted?

Why is his offer list terrible then? UCLA still has a rich tradition and has had tons of great players come trough that program.

What rich tradition? You mean getting beat down virtually every year by USC? Have you even looked at their program over the last decade? Its not that impressive. You are acting as though this kid got a full ride to bama or something.

You would not stay "rich" for long with making sound financial decisions like this.

Plenty of wealthy folks pay for college for their kids and don't tank their bank account. Oh also we all know Diddy brags about spending thousands of dollars on alcohol and whatnot. He seems to have managed staying rich.

And plenty dont, especially when their child earns a scholarship. I can afford to send my child to college in a couple of years, but if she gets a scholarship, it would be retarded to refuse it because I can afford to pay it myself.

Where are his PAC-12 offers? UCLA is only second in tradition to USC in that conference. And they are down just like us - but they are still better off than most of that conference which didn't offer the kid.

If he is a good enough athlete to get a scholarship than so be it. Your parents income doesn't impact how good of an athlete you are

So let's attack the kid's offer list now....brilliant....

Well do as you see fit I wish your daughter well. I want as many folks educated in this world as possible.

Pretty obvious there's a chance he got preferential treatment because of his name when you look at his offer list. Same thing happened at USC with Romeo.

What's obvious is you think the rich should spend their money based on your terms, not theirs.

No I don't. I think if he's going to get preferential treatment he should at least help his team out though.

You can't prove he received preferential treatment from UCLA.

Virginia was on the offer list too. Their academic standards are very high, yet they offered the kid a full ride. It speaks to the other half of the equation many here are leaving out....this kid was an excellent student and athlete.

Why not Puffy, P-Diddy, or Sean Combs whatever you want to call him got several handouts to achieve his stardom. He could finally repay to the community.

I am no fan of Combs's music; however, I have never been under the impression that he did not make it on his own. I have always thought he was just as much a self-made mogul as Russell Simmons.

Am I wrong? Show me the evidence.

Combs's father was killed when he was growing up; Combs then made it through life, paying his own way. He is now letting his son earn his own way and it appears his son is doing a decent job of that.

Only an ass would either expect or request his son to forgo the scholarship.

Actually no it's not penalizing him because I didn't say he should be forced to give it up. But it's selfish not to - if he cares about his team why not give it up so they can get another player in there and have him walk on? Seems like a no brainer to me when your dad makes enough for his college tuition in 1 day of work. It's done a lot by players with wealthy parents because the kids are willing to help the team in any way they can - and usually by players who don't have fathers near as wealthy.

What if he cares about his dad and figures that his dad has already shelled out enough money raising him? What if, at 18, he wants to make it on his own and not have to ask dad for money anymore?

He earned the scholarship and he is making his way in life. Anyone upset over this is just an ass with a chip on their shoulder.
