You can't prove he received preferential treatment from UCLA.
Virginia was on the offer list too. Their academic standards are very high, yet they offered the kid a full ride. It speaks to the other half of the equation many here are leaving out....this kid was an excellent student and athlete.
Yeeeaaah, no. Wazzu is the only pac12 school with a worse rap than ucla right now. Maybe colorado, but that's really about it.Where are his PAC-12 offers? UCLA is only second in tradition to USC in that conference. And they are down just like us - but they are still better off than most of that conference which didn't offer the kid.

It is based on athletics and you cannot prove that the coaches at UCLA do not think he is a good enough football player to earn a scholarship and a spot on their roster.
Romeo was a package deal with DeRozan. No way in hell Floyd offers Romeo alone.
You don't say....
Yet you felt the need to point out that UCLA and UVA are more prestigious academically than the run of the mill BCS school. And that somehow would make him more deserving of a scholarship since he was a good student - both of those schools only care if the athlete meets the minimum for the school, NCAA, and conference in regards to academics like 99% of other BCS schools.
You should know that - UF is ranked pretty high academically for public schools - yet the dumb kids still get in and play basketball and football like every other school.
Everyone knows Puffy was thrown a rope to get his hip-hop started. I feel he could do the same by allowing another good player to UCLA. I love his music and seems to be a fairly good guy. I would just like him to say Ill cover the expense for your education. If UCLA declines then cool at least he made the offer. Maybe Puffy did and thats how it happened and was left out of the article.
Romeo was going to be on the USC bball team regardless of where DeRozan went.
Ask head coach Tim Floyd.
In the same article, Floyd told the WSJ, "Last April...Percy Miller called while driving both players from a tournament in Fayetteville, Ark. ... Percy Miller said, 'DeMar and Romeo are ready to make their decision, and would you like to have them both on scholarship?' ... I said 'absolutely.'"
This DeMar fellow that Floyd and Miller both mention?
Well, he is none other than DeMar DeRozan.
A 6'6" All-American forward.
In 2007, DeRozan was the fifth best player in the country and a five-star recruit according to Scout.com. Romeo Miller, on the other hand, was unranked, with one star. Romeo had no Division I offers other than USC.

but did he? Offer list at the very least raises some questions and you can't deny that.
There are players that have offer lists that are pretty awful, other than one major school; sometimes these players pan out and sometimes they do not. However, the coaches usually say that they saw something special that the other coaches and scouts must have missed.
Bass and Deep,
So do you think his son shouldn't get a job later on in life. By your reasonings, Sean should just pay for everything, and his son would be taking a job away from somebody else, right?
Not the same at all only certain scolarships allowed period. Business owners have right to employ as many as they wish.
