QB competition..

Amazing to me how so many posters appear to literally hate Ferguson on here because guys like me, who have never once said Ferguson should or would start, cut and paste quotes from Butch and the VolQuest guys saying Ferguson has the strongest arm and is splitting team 1 reps.

Anywho, I expect Worley to start with Dobbs and Ferguson battling for 2nd. I personally really like Dobbs and would have no problem with him starting. Either way, I'll pull for whoever the QB is...even Peterman.

KB, some folks have it in their genes that they MUST hate someone or something even if no reason for doing so exists. However, I must say I haven't seen or recalled anyone hating Ferguson. You got Whirlybird Worley, Rifleman Riley, Dobb Goblin, and Peter Pumpkin Eater fans, but I don't think I've seen anyone post what could be called a hate message about any of the QBs. Maybe a prediction one would transfer or something but no hate. I have seen posts, mine included, where it was said if someone other than our personal favorite got the nod, we'd be fine with that.

Go back and look at some of the QB threads while Spring practice was going on. Not saying some said " I hate Ferguson!", but the crap said about him, about him not being smart enough to play QB at UT etc, was ridiculous. It was as if some guys on here, plenty of guys on here, didn't like that guys like me were cutting/pasting the reports that he has the strongest arm of the bunch and was taking team one reps with Worley, and took it out on the kid. It was bizarre.

Honestly i can see where your coming from after that Orange and White game. But after multiple reports saying Riley has the strongest and most accurate arm is to be believed. Even worley and peterman agreed that he has the best arm on the team in the interview after the orange and white game. He has the tools, he has the arm, just needs to learn to take care of the football. With the Orange and White game being his first start i can understand why he had a jittery game. But look at most the replays. The O-Line didnt even block half the time. I personally am a fan of Riley Ferg. been following him since the first scholarship offer. The kid is good but still has alot of learning to do.

Maybe KBVOL just needs to be reminded that not everybody is going to agree with you every time. 'Hail!' Sometimes I don't even agree with myself.

I wasn't asking anybody agree with me. I simply cut and pasted quotes off of twitter and elsewhere from Butch, Bajakian, Hubbs, Rucker, Low, etc ....and then I paraphrased near word for word what I heard from interviews and on radio from Matthews, Ainge, Swain, Treece, John Brice, etc.... and was told that everything I posted from those sources regarding Riley's arm and/or place on the depth chart was wrong, ridiculous, a lie or couldn't be believed because all those sources were on the take or part of some nefarious, elaborate scheme of Butch's wider disinformation campaign with "the media".

I don't come to this site to have people agree with me. I come here to get information, occasionally give pertinent information I've read or heard, to give my opinions and enjoy the go between with fellow Vol fans. That's pretty much it.

50 yard line to goal post. Still impressive.

Yep! Sure was. Good to see. But I'm betting all our QBs are better and stronger and we're in better hands QB-wise than many realize. I still want the Dobb Goblin on the field, though.

A smoke-like mist creeps from the river.
It climbs the bank and crawls onto the campus.
It envelopes Neyland Stadium in its ghostly embrace.
Is it the illusion of lights or spectral eyes?
The baleful twin glows advancing through the mist.
Listen carefully. The sound is low but rumbles.
Saying repeatedly, "I'm coming, I'm coming."

I think Worley may end up being a little bit more polished than Dobbs, but I like Dobbs a little better. He showed that he wasn't afraid to use his legs to extend or finish a play.

Now that he's graduated, he will be able to put in more time than the other QBs so it wouldn't be a surprise if he takes the job, runs away and hides with it.

I think Worley will get the start but lets not forget that CBJ went out of his way to recruit Dobbs away from Arizona. Dobbs is his first QB recruit at Tennessee so I'm sure he wants to see him succeed(even if subconsciously).

Don't think he's talented enough to run away and hide from the more physically gifted a Dobbs and Ferguson....although I understand what you're saying. Either way, I along with most believe Worley's definitely the starter vs USU barring something unforeseen this summer.

SJT and KBVol? What are you guys opinions' on our QB's with a weaker/inexperienced OL? Will we need a mobile QB to compete?
I go back and forth between Worley(reliable).....then Dobbs(mobile)...fergy(no clue-hasnt played)

(not smartass---honest question)

wish fergy and peterman the best, but i just don't think they're our best option at qb right now. both have the talent to do a variety of things in our system, but after watching them play it seems like playing either....and fergy more so than peterman after the spring game (experience and improvement).....would be like trying to fit a square peg in a round hole.

the starter between dobbs and worley. i am a fan of dobbs over worley. however, worley is a safe pick and plays the position safely. i feel as if we're gonna see both in the 1st few games and then a decision will be made

At the very least I'd like to see Peterman at least get a chance to play to redeem his image.

Sometimes really fine surprises come wrapped in plain brown paper.
