I like Donovan and think he's a good coach but they just aren't getting it done right now.
Thats where we definately differ. I believe he stumbled upon a great recruiting class and rode it for all it was worth. Barring the accidental final four earlier in his career, his resume is filled with nothing but 1st and 2nd round drubbings, and NIT appearances. He has never really shown any real "coaching" prowess, IMO. He certainly hasn't show that he can do "less with more".
Thats just my take on the situation.
In the last 10 years he has 2 national championships and a national runner-up without the so-called "lightning in a bottle" class we all hear about it. I would say the man knows how to coach.
The last few years though, I believe he would agree that they just aren't getting it done.
Exactly how is assembling a class good enough to win as sophs, as well as having families wealthy enough to allow them to stay an extra season in college, not the textbook definition of "lightning in a bottle?"In the last 10 years he has 2 national championships and a national runner-up without the so-called "lightning in a bottle" class we all hear about it.
