Quality Win Update for SEC teams

If the SEC wants more than 3 bids, they better root for Florida against Ole Miss Saturday. Otherwise, it starts to look like UT, Kentucky, and Vanderbilt will be the league's only representatives.

Funny, as the season has progressed, MHF has been posting less and less. Shocking that most of us were right about the SEC.

In theory, State could win out and IMO should win 4 or 5. Would 22 or 23 wins not do it for them? OOC losses too bad?

Then again, they are in the west so who knows.

They really haven't beaten anyone. If they get an at large bid, there are going to be several teams screaming bloody murder on Selection Sunday.

Please do not speak of he who must not be named. The name is taboo. He will show up sooner or later though, with another brand new jacked up mathematical formula.

States last chance was against us Tuesday night. I don't see an at large bid for them, without the planets aligning.

You two are probably right. About the only way they could get an at large now would get to 22 or 23 wins in the regular season and then make the SEC tournament final. That gets them beating either UK or Vandy.

I have come to the conclusion that the SEC getting 4 teams in will be if (and only if) someone other than UT-Vandy-UK wins the SEC Tournament. I would very much like to be wrong on this.

For me, it comes down to the fact that they have no "signature" wins to speak of. Loudmouth Dykes mentioned that 60,000 times Tuesday night, but it is the truth. Their best wins are against UCLA (who is putrid) and Ole Miss who is quickly falling off the face of the earth. Not to mention they have a couple inexusable losses.

The importance of that is that they are going to be on that bubble with about 10-11 losses with about 25 other teams with the same record, same RPI and same SOS. Not having that win will bury them.

Somebody put an APB out for MHF...wasn't he going to be "patting himself on the back at the end of the season"?

I have a good friend in Law Enforcement. I'll ask him if he's seen any BOLOS out on a vehicle chasing ambulances around.

Just checked Bracketology and they now have 4 SEC teams in the field of 65. The first one out, according to them, would be Miss St. They will win 4 of their last 5 (and they'll be incredibly jacked up for the TN game which, I currently have as their lone loss in the last five, and that is bad for UT b/c they have bigs for days, and UT struggles against bigs) almost for sure. They did beat UCLA in LA, Houston on the road, and Mississippi on the road. If they can win one in the SEC Tourney, I would bet they were in at 23-10 (11-7). The 2 wins over Ole Miss would supersede the slightly better record for The Rebels seen below because...

Ole Miss can win their last 5, and they have no bad losses. A win or two in the SEC Tourney and they could easily slip in the field, as well at 23-9 (11-7). They 2 losses to Miss St could be the deciding factor on their resume if...

Florida goes on a crazy streak and wins 3 of their last 5. IF this happens, Florida would be in, even with no wins in the SEC Tourney and Ole Miss would probably be the first team out of the NCAAs, but....

Florida is going to lose 4 of their last 5.... They are not going to the big one. But the NIT better watch out for this band of chronic underachievers...

That, of course, puts 5 SEC teams in the NCAAs. I stated this the other day without much to back it up, but after really looking into it, I feel confident that this could happen.

And by the way, if UT can win out, or even 4 of the last 5, and then win two in the SEC Tourney, we could be looking at a 4 (or really even a 3, if the committee overseeds us again) seed with a possible 26-7 (14-5) OR 25-7 (13-5) record...

Holla!

UCLA and Houston are .500 teams. Nobody gives a damn about wins over them.

Ole Miss has a home loss to Arkansas. That's not a bad loss, it's an atrocious one.

FYI - I don't know y'all's deal with MFH about the number of SEC or Big Ten teams you think will get in the NCAAs, this has nothing to do with that. So, this isn't an in-your-face thing. This is just what I think could transpire for the SEC.

Ole Miss has a home loss to Arkansas. That's not a bad loss, it's an atrocious one.

But, if they beat Arkansas in the last game of the season they avenge that loss, AND Arkansas easily finishes at 16-15 (9-7) in the regular season... That's not a good record, but it's not LSU bad...

Neither UCLA nor Houston are decent.

So, if Ole Miss finishes 23-9 (11-7), you don't think they're in the field of 65?

I can understand why you'd think that. I was floored when Vandy didn't get in last year with a 10-6 SEC regular season record.

Is the SEC capped at 4 this year?

Pot meet kettle.....

You won't find anywhere where I said Florida could be a Final Four team.

It would actually be nice for you to have somewhat of an idea of what was talked about before you type.

Probably. Miss St. doesn't have a single good win and the loser of the Florida/Mississippi game is all but done.
