I thought SECC were not big games? I mean when people throw out Manning winning a SECC you don't consider it a championship? I guess it depends hmmmm...
Two different issues. Spurrier has a National Championship, so Captain Stats should never be mentioned in the same discusssion as Saint Steve. For that matter, Spurrier has a Heisman. Back on topic, the thread is about coaches. Spurrier and TCHFCATUTK both have a National Championship. Therefore, in comparing them, the next logical mode of comparison would be head to head record or conference championships. Since Spurrier annihilates him on both issues, I just chose conference championships. Feel free to use head to head record if you wish.

Just my thoughts

1. Of course, they are loaded and always have a shot even when they're down. It is womens basketball, not like there's alot of parity
2. Yes, He's an excellent coach but we'll see what happens when people see him coming( I think we'll have a similiar season to last year regardless)
3. No, he would be stuck behind Ainge
4. Yes, hands down

I was going to say the same thing about the parity in women's basketball, but I figured the Lady Vol Nazis would give me down the road about it. How do you think Schaeffer would do if he was starting here?

Fulmer's strenght has always been his recruiting abilities. Someone said he had NFL-like football teams in the 90's- all b/c of his recuiting efforts. This is what makes him great.

1.Do the Lady Vols have what it takes to win a NC this year???

2.Is Bruce Pearl the man to put the Vols on top???

3.Would Brent Schaffer have more success as a Vol than as an Ole Miss Rebel???

4.Is Peyton Manning the best QB UT has ever had???

1. They always do.
2. No, he's the man to put the Vols in the top 10.
3. No, his talent is overrated.
4. IMO, absolutely.

Let's not lost sight of the fact that the SEC has had some quality coaches during Fulmer's tenure, and not one has won more than one title.

Spurrier has one (which they basically backed into after Arizona State lost to Ohio State and Nebraska lost to Texas)
Saban has one (and he's not around any more), but they sure had the talent to win more
Fulmer has one

As tough as the SEC is top-to-bottom, it's dang near impossible to win multiple SEC titles (let alone national championships). Even the people who pine for the days of Johnny Majors' intoxicated ramblings overlook the fact that he won no national championships on Rocky Top either as a player or a coach.

This isn't exactly the ACC when Florida State was around (beat powerhouses Duke, Wake Forest, and North Carolina and play for a title!) or the Big XII/Big 8 when it was Nebraska and no one else. It bugs me to see so many here talk about how tough the SEC is and then badmouth Fulmer for not winning more than 1.

I find him to be a sanctimonious, charismatically challenged rube.

Funny how a guy with no Charisma can recruit the hell outa kids in your new beloved home state of Florida. How in the world could a uncharismatic rube get such high quality players away from there?

I think he has been and still is one of, if not THE best recruiters in all of college football. Pretty good snitch, too!

How many great players do we have from Florida?

All I can think of is Demetrice Morley, but he's yet to establish himself as a "great" player. Although, I'm betting he will over the next 3 years.

That is right and if I remember right the "U" and UT were the 2 it came down to. HMMMMM how in the world did the rube win that recruit?
Even a blind pig occasionally finds an acorn. First, he would have been competing with a coach every bit as dull as he is. Second, I welcome TCHFCATUTK to try and make a living recruiting South Florida after this season when Greg Schiano is the coach at the "U." If he tries that, I'll get my change in Knoxville sooner than later.

If I remember correctly Schaeffer's biggest problem was he would look for one receiver and then run. That caught up to him when the competition improved. Plus he doesn't have a bazooka strapped to his shoulder like Ainge. If he were here Cut would definitely have improved his ability to go through his progressions, but there's no way he would ever beat out Ainge. Ainge is just too good a fit for this offense

Spurrier did real well after he lost his top guys as well didn't he.

Well Fulmer didnt do as well when he lost his top coach. You saw that since 1999. To answer the question, is Fulmer a great coach in this thread, no. Good but not great. Without Cut he wins 65 percent of his games. With him he is around 80 percent.

That's really the only one and he's not as good as Kenny Phillips.

I agree, that is really the only one. But Phillips got an opportunity to play earlier at Miami than Morley did at UT. Phillips is tough, but Morley is just now getting his chance to be an impact player throughout an entire game. I think Phillips trimmed his list down to Tennessee and Miami as well... too bad... he's a gamer.

One impact recruit in 14 years out of South Florida. Impressive. For that matter, exactly what has Morely done on the field except get abused in the Florida game?
