Quit with the moral victory bs

Everything you say is true, but shouldn't we expect that every game? The playing their hearts out part.

Yes, we should. What your overlooking is the mental aspects of the game and the fact they didnt see themselves losing today. They played to the last minute. Losing can become a habit and cause a team to give up when the score is not close or they are not winning. The Vols didn't do that today. THAT is what we are proud of and that kind of effort will become a habit too and the wins will come. GO VOLS!!!

The kids played their hearts out, and showed improvement....Honestly it's really nice to see some positive posts on here. Makes this place a WHOLE lot more fun.

And your expectations were? blow out, never in the game, any combination of lose? Btw, there is no such thing as a moral victory. The vols played better tonite than they have in 5 yrs.

But, in your opinion, they should be blowing the doors off everyone we play. Wining football games takes more that snarky comments by moronic fans

Get over yourself dude, I never said anything like what you insinuated

No one is "celebrating" a loss. I'm disappointed as heck that we lost the game. And yes, Dooley had a lot of games like that. A lot of them were lost because of his coaching.

What I saw today was a team that was prepared to win, that played to win, that made correct adjustments at halftime, that played hard from beginning to end, and which lost the game because a kid was trying to make a play to win--not a team that lost the game because its coaching staff mismanaged the game.

I'll celebrate that for the first time in a long time, I saw a Tennessee team play, and coach, winning football against a real opponent. If they keep that up, then victories will come.

Meh, we hardly ever made a rally from behind (a 2 possession deficit at that) to actually take the lead from behind under Dooley. The fault also wasn't a coaching blunder this time around like it almost always was under dooley. The Real issue is we seem to be Cursed in Overtime.

This.

if you can't take positives away from tonight's game then you might want to take up another hobby

Why are we celebrating? Because of this pic below. It has been a very long time since this was the case by a team especially against a top 10 opponent. With the talent level being the way it is and what this group of kids have been through, this was a team effort that has not been seen in a while. Sure I would have liked the win. But not seeing this sort of effort in some time is a sign that we have a staff moving in the positive direction even with the talent level we currently have. Or maybe we should all go hang ourselves in misery...which is so last season...

For some, they are celebrating the fact our coach, team, and players are making progress. You must not be there yet.

It's a gut wrenching loss and I cuss about every ten minutes. Better days are ahead...

Did we watch the same game?

I don't know about you, but tonight was a win in so many ways regardless of the final score. I don't think you understand how energized Neyland was and what this means for recruiting.

Also, I will celebrate the fact that we finally have a coach that pays more than lip service to the special teams maxim.

Very proud. I saw a much improved team today. That's all that we can ask. The wins will come

People aren't celebrating, were just proud that tonight our team played harder then any team that Dooley put on the field these last 3 years. If that was a Dooley coached team tonight we would have given up at halftime when it was 17 to 3 and we would have lost 45 to 17. This loss stings for us all and I really thought the guys were going to pull it out tonight but our Young guys played their asses off. Croom,North, Vereen, JRM, Cam Sutton all were put in the line of fire tonight against a great team and they stepped up. Moral victories suck but right now that's where we are.

I thought we were past this moral victory stuff. I can't figure out if it's from hopeless optimism or from such low expectations of our team, but if you were a stranger on here, you'd probably think we pitched a shut-out tonight.

I mean, I'm literally sick over this game and there's folks on here throwing a freakin party.

Because this is a rebuilding team with a brand new coach man and we almost beat the number 6 team in the nation. We should have lost that game by a lot. You have no clue at all!

We are celebrating a great college football game. I was there, and it was fantastic. If people are poo pooing it or complaining about moral victories, then get a life. Our team fought hard, and it was probably the best game I have been to in 6 years. We have some fans who need to grow up.

A loss is a loss and it hurts hurts just as bad as any. Man I feel sorry for our boys they played their hearts out today. I don't believe in moral victorys just like most of you. I don't view this as one of those cus it's still in the end.

I do however believe we will get there. The team really came together tonight played their hearts out and I truly believe CBJ will right the ship eventually he just needs time.

I remember most of you last year *****ed about the team never showing improvement on the field. With CBJ we are slowly getting that. Unlike we ever saw with Fooley.

I also take away the team and the coaches does have large testicles for going for it on those 4 downs. They played and coached to win. Sometimes you win and sometimes you loose it's a fact of life. As much as I'm tired of loosing just like the rest of you there is no dout in my mind we are headed in the right direction and the W"s will come in due time.
