Quit with the "we don't have talent and are slow" crud

We just need the talent in a couple of classes and patience cause it's going to be rough for a few more years.

I wouldn't have agreed with this post until I saw this team play live today. The defensive ends crashed down the entire game. We ran zero run blitzs to make Auburn beat us with the pass. We did nothing to adjust to their attacks on the perimeter.
The special teams were a joke. We have people playing on special teams who seem to be afraid to hit.
We have players watching instead of blocking for our running backs.
If we aren't recruiting a QB we are in trouble, because Josh Dobbs has a weak arm.
It is much worse in person than it is on TV.
Bad offensive play calling. No adjustments made ever. I was really disappointed with the effort this team put forth.
Depth may be an issue, but even bad athletes who are trying can be physical, and make a freaking tackle.
If I were Butch Jones this team would run 50 miles in the next week, and it would start tonight. These guys would never want to lose another game. Until this team shows some guts, no coach will be successful here.
These players should be embarrassed to go to class on Monday.

Well said brotha!

There are more problems than speed on this team. These guys are afraid to hit. Our wedge on kickoffs just ran past people instead of blocking. Missing a tackles, and not setting an edge after you have been burned game after game against speed teams is inexcusable. At some point Butch has to coach to win the game this week, and forget about coaching for next year. I honestly was disappointed. The SEC will eat up and spit out a weak coaching staff. The problems are bigger than lack of speed.

Most of our talent is young... and this team speed argument is C-R-A-P.... You're gonna tll me that the reason we can't cover a receiver or close the gap on a QB is because of team speed? Our players are just as fast or 1/10 of a second slower than the competition. It's a difference but not the difference between the Georgia/SCe game and the last 3 weeks.

Our offensive line played a respectable game today.
Palardy is one of our best tacklers. They should move him to middle linebacker.

Fine.

We are pathetically lacking in speed and are sufficiently talentless.

Better?

We do have talent just not sec talent and sec speed. We just need more time for recruits to get in. I think with the people that jones brought in last year and this incoming year we will be a little better.

Agreed but Butch Jones has only been coaching them less than a year. You can't undo what Dooley did in one season.

Right but you can undo what Fulmer and Kiffin did in two, right?

Dooley deserved to be fired after year 3 but there were MANY here ready to can him after year 2... and in retrospect... they called it right just early.

I don't want Jones fired. He needs 3 years to have a chance. But I DO want to see MUCH BETTER COACHING than what we have see the past 3 games. ESPECIALLY on the defensive side of the ball.

I'm sorry but simply getting more talent won't resolve the coaching issues that have been revealed on the D staff in the last 3 games. Those guys need to get their acts together.

When the announcers comment the ballboys out run the UT D and return team what does the OP expect ?

Even slow guys can hit someone. Slow guys can block a man in front of him. A slow guy can attempt to set an edge. A coach can attempt their slow players in schemes that relatively look like they might work. A coach can call blitzes and attempt to apply pressure against a run team. A coach can load the box, and also make sure that their team isn't out flanked or outnumbered on the perimeter before the ball is snapped. I am so sick of excuses.

Thats what coaches are for. Yeah, you cant coach speed or depth, but you can prepare and put players in a position to succeed.

I get we may not win, but to look like a high school team this far into the season is pretty puzzling.

lulz...

98% of all these kids got other scholarship offers to other D-1 schools, so they are that talented and other schools saw D-1 potential in them. The problem isn't so much the lack of talent and speed (which is definitely a challenge, but not an excuse everytime), its the lack of mentoring and coaching to develop basic skills. There were missed lanes, false starts, horrible angles, horrible tackling, lack of defensive vision and defensive common sense (QB spy after he gashed us for what seemed to be 200yds in the first half) ZERO, and I mean ZERO defensive adjustments at half-time--- see opening kickoff and QB runs the rest of the game. This team lacks COACHING. All this and we are 3/4 through the season.

98% no. Not all were recruited by Sec schools. Do your research. You will find of the last 3 classes only bout 33 to 40% were recruited and that all that landed here would have landed at several schools not one. If they did land at several SeC schools some a few may have started some May have departed and some would have been buried on the depth chart. Our OL would have done well split up in the SEC but here the jobs were never threatened where at other schools there would have been little margin for error or you get buried on the depth chart.

Coaching and game plan matter VERY little when you have personnel that are just flat out faster. Speed kills--that's a common refrain. We don't match up well with Auburn. Jancek and Butch could have schemed the crap out of this game and it wouldn't have mattered. Slow on special teams kick coverage no speed on the back end to catch a guy in Nick Marshall that is a running quarterback. There's no magical game plan here people. Bring in whatever new coordinator or coach you want the deficiencies on this roster weren't going to improve at this point in the season. Idiots.

The guys that were on the field today on O and D were recruited by other D-1 schools, do your research and read my post, I didn't say SEC.

They are at least 1/10 slower and that equates to about a yard of space or not reaching the spot quick enough to make a proper tackle. It is a complete killer at this level and only recruiting can fix it. I knew we were slow. But It was especially clear at Oregon, it showed against Alabama, Mizzou and it dam sure showed today.

Actually... It will. I know we were having this discussion on another thread, but I just don't believe you could have schemed your way out of this speed variance today. Some of your suggestions may have been valid, but also easily countered with what Malzohne (sp) has at his disposal. Give these guys some time to get their recruits in here and you may be surprised... God I hope so anyway because today was tough to watch.:peace2:
